Default Dazzling Diamonds vs. other glitter?

So is Stampin' Up's Dazzling Diamonds better then other glitter? I got some glitter from Walmart awhile back and it seems fine, but I don't have anything to compare too... has anyone tried both or is glitter pretty much glitter? TIA for you replies

I LOVE LOVE LOVE dazzling diamonds. It's much better than anything I can find at the craft stores. It's finer, so it sticks better, and the "sparkle" is more than I've seen in any other glitter. I could be my current favorite embellishment!

Well, I have never used Wal-Mart glitter so I can't compare, but I will tell you why I personally like DD.
It is very translucent-you can see colors underneath it, so it really adds a lot of sparkle without overwhelming the image.
It is very fine-I have not had any issues with clumping becasue it is sooooo fine.
It is really very pretty-and the shimmer is white with a touch of pastel (if that makes sense). I have seen glitter in Micheal's that is close to DD, but it shimmered a very light green. DD's shimmer is really quite pretty and it seems to pick up the color from what is around it.
I really do think it is the best around, and before I became a demo I did see if I could find anything comparable and I couldn't , so I am sticking with DD.

Your title of the post says it best - Dazzling Diamondsvs. OTHER glitter! I love DD so much, everthing else is truly other glitter, for me anyway

I placed a order today and finally ordered Dazzling Diamonds and crystal effects. But what is the difference between using DD and crystal effects and DD and two way glue?

ooh Felicia, good question... I am now convinced that Dazzling Diamonds is superior to my Walmart glitter... I use it with Crystal Effects and it always rubs off somewhat... So I was just going to ask what is the best way to adhere glitter?

Does anyone ever use Stamp and Stick?? I have it, but I've never used it...does it work good with the glitter? I normally just use the liquid glue or CE. I have a two way glue pen, but I hate it. It gets all mucked up.

If I am doing a big area I use CE just b/c it flows so smoothly, but for small spots I use the liquid glue. The liquid glue is like a gel, and I find it dries quickly and holds well. I also like that the liquid glue has 2 ends-a thin one, as well as a wider one. I have used the wider one for making a star or insect trail, and then add the glitter over top.

Hi - I hear say that if you use SU!'s heat and stick powder with the DD it works great --- you put on heat and stick powder, heat it up and while still hot put DD on it and then you can heat set it again.

Default Dazzling Diamonds vs other glitter

I've been a stamper for years so have used many different types/brands of glitter and SU Dazzling Diamonds is the best! Use it with the two way glue stick or crystal effects and you'll love it.

Do any of you use any of SU's other glitters? I am tempted by the gold and red for Christmas.

Dazzling Diamonds RULES! It is my very favorite embellishment. I use it mostly with two way glue and have had no problems with it. On small spots/spaces I like to use my two way glue, DD, and then Crystal Effects. It really looks cool for the DD to be under the CE!

datgh-I have the red-I like that it is a nicer shade than what I have found at other stores-not too "cherry" colored if that makes sense? They used to make it tooooo dark-almost burgundy but not shimmery. Last year they changed it a bit and now I think it is very pretty. For me personally teh gold is not anything out of the ordinary0just gold.

I also love Dazzling Diamonds. I am sorry that we got rid of the glitter stacks. I had all three but the pastel one is my favorite. After I made the bold butterfly glitter puzzle I gave the bold stack to a good friend of mine. She is way wilder and that glitter was a bit too much for me. Also the bold glitter was different. Hard to explain...not as glittery, more fine bold paint pieces.

I don't have any of the other colors that we now carry. They don't appeal to me too much. I want the Pastel stack back! Need it back! Right now! (stamping my foot)

I love putting the glitter on CE, then adding anopther layer of CE when it's dry...it adds another layer...and makes the glitter even shinier.

I have both the DD and the ultra fine stuff from a craft store. They're pretty close, but I do like the DD better, except for the fact that it's not in a shaker. I keep it in a sandwich sized box and it seems to do just fine.

I LOVE DD glitter. I don't have any other brand to compare it to, but I don't feel the need to try any other brand! I have all of the glitter stacks from last years catalog and I agree with Beate...the pastel glitter stack needs to come back. I love the coral and the periwinkle (and the yellow is so pretty in the center of flowers!)...they work great with the heat and stick powder, but I use the 2 way glue more often. I have the silver shine, but have not yet used it.

I've been using the DD glitter for about a year and it has gone through 3 stamp camps and several workshops and is still 3/4 full! It goes a LONG way!

Love the stuff...definitely worth the money!

I bought some from Wal mart a while back but didn't care for it and bought the DD from a party. I LOVE IT!!! It is so fine and sticks and glimmers well. I wouldn't buy any other glitter out there.

Ohhh I love love love the DD. I just made the cutest votive holders with it. Will have to try to post it.
Then tonight I was playing around and mixed the red glitter with CE and painted it on the area. Looks really neat, but I am still waiting for it to dry to see the full effect.
The coolest thing about the SU glitter is how fine it is and it seems like you are using a lot and you aren't it lasts for a long time and ohh does it go all over the place.
Oh and it is really neat if you aren't really trying to be "glittery" yourself and you have worked with it and your hair face arms and anything else shimmers. The kids love when mommy sparkles When I was making the votive holders the other night it got all over and when I went to bed hubbyI noticed had it on his face teehee I dare not say anything to him.

Dazzling Diamonds is TERRIFIC!!! I've tried others and nothing compares to dazzling diamonds!!! I usually use it with the 2-way glue. If you're having trouble getting glitter to stay on your card I've heard people say they sometimes spray the card with hairspray (after the glue is dry). I haven't tried it, but I can see how it would help.
Buy the Dazzling Diamonds! You've got to try it!!!

Instead of using heat and stick and then DD on a stamped image, I use a craft pad. The craft pad stays wet and sticky enough for the glitter to hold on, and it stays on, too!

I think the topic has been exhausted, yet I still feel a need to chime in! I hosted a show for my SU friend, during which she demonstrated the DD. I didn't order DD, thinking I could find it "out there." I went on a search, found what I thought would be similar @ JoAnn's. After I used it, and compared it to the sample left me by my friend, I discovered that there definately is a difference in the colors in the glitter. The stuff from JoAnns had a definate green tint, which was not what I wanted. I ended up ordering the DD later, and I love it! The JoAnn's glitter will go in my daughter's craft supplies when she's old enough to control it ha ha.

O.K., it sounds like I'm the only one who hasn't tried DD. I have about 12 containers of different colors of glitter by: Barbara Trombley's ART glittering system (ultra fine). I have been able to find these at Flowerland in almost every color you can think of. I have been very pleased with them and that is probably why I haven't tried DD yet. They come in the same size containter as the heat and stick powder and cost me $3.29 a piece. But you all have me very curious about the difference between them and DD. Guess I'll just have to order and find out.
