I don't know if it can be done. Have you checked with the THis to that website? It is great for figuring out what adhesive to use. Worth a try. My daughter is getting married so I would love to see your finished invites !
Hey there,
That sounds really cool. I would suggest "sticky strip"; it'll stick anything together. It held the SU earth elements beads to my sister-in-law's invites and none fell off, so I'm sure it'll work for burlap and paper.

The adhesive bled through the cardstock and didn't stick to the burlap until overnight
the cement was very re-positionable and did adhear overnight
scotch glue didn't hold it
and the hot glue gun was wonderful!!!! I have a template done with plane printer paper, but i can't wait to get a sample for you.

I'm not sure what would be the best since the weave on the burlap is so wide. Also want to keep in mind that some of the adhesives you've tried may not be acid free/archival quality, and some of these announcements will be saved and you want them to look good in years to come. I would probably use a hot glue gun as well, but I also know that the glue doesn't hold well over a long period of time...
Sorry I can't be of more help, but it sound like you've tried anything I can think of, and I would have tried as well! Would the 2 way glue hold it or even a simple glue stick? Let us know!

Just courious what happened to the burlap. I though it was very orignal. My daughter is getting married in Sept. We too also made all of her invites. She too dose not like traditional so it was a chalange to please her. I think the sticky tape would of held but you didn't say if you tried or not.

I wanted to chime in on my solution to getting burlap to stick to cardstock-I used Golden Artist Acrylic Medium Regular Gel (semi-gloss) and it worked FANTASTIC! I have had no luck with a long term adhesive for Burlap and then it occurred to me! Acrylic Medium! I use it a lot in making journal covers in art classes with middle school students, and it was kind of like, "duh!" <smacking palm to forehead>. In the card linked below I decided to put the medium all over the card front and put distressing ink over it-and then used it on the back of the focal image. I doubt it will EVER come loose without ripping it. You can buy Acrylic Medium at dickblick.com for a very reasonable cost or use your Michael's/Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon.
