I have heard of people cutting out different little scraps of paper and putting it on each little part of the die cut, but that sounds pretty tedious to me.

What I would do, since the dies are really pretty small, is just run several sets through of the same die, in different colors, then take the colors from each set and assemble your animal or whatever.

I saw one where a person used the baby die this way and it looked great.
