I was quite surprised to find my 25 yr old son in my stamping room looking thru some of my cards. I had a card laid out, not put together, but had chosen the components to go on it, when he asked if he could use it. I told him "Sure"!! He took my birthday stamp, inked it in red, and made his girl friend a birthday card with the components I had laid together!! Now I know I can take part of the credit, but I never thought he would actually put it all together and stamp it!! And he made an envelope for it too!!! I couldn't be prouder!!!!!!! LOL. Karen.
How cool is that? Closest my DS has gotten is picking out the components for something for his girl. It's posted in my gallery...he designed her one of those itty bitty books. He's so proud of my stamping...and his girl is a stamper too! He's only 22.
I think you should upload his creation so that we can all give him great feedback!!! I'm all for encouraging creativity, especially to those that might not ordinarily be crafty!!! You never know, he may be the next Tim Holtz !
I hate to confess, I don't know how to upload. I don't have a gallery!!! He did a great job though...it's amazing what a glue stick, and a piece of paper and rubber stamp can do!! LOL
Aww, this reminds me of Valentine's Day. My son had just gotten a brand new girlfriend and wanted to make her a card, so he drew the card while at school, and then had me help him put it together, I helped him tone it down a bit (he wanted a lot of embellishments, a boy after my own heart) but I helped him make it look great. now the really sad thing..I forgot to get a picture before he took it to her at school..lol. Wonder if I can ask him to *borrow* it from her, so I can take a picture! He is in this class at school, Family Consumer Sciences, so they were learning all about how to do design element, from drawing, refining, and creation. :-) Love it when our kids take an interest in our hobbies, especially the boys!!
Congrats to you son!

Good idea with the picture!! I can scrapbook a pic of him holding the card, or even with his girlfriend after she gets the card!! I love to hear the stories of others whom find the male side of a relationship trying their hand at our craft!! I tried to talk hubby into making my b-day card, but he opted to give me one I had made already!! LOL!! At least I didn't know which one he picked out til I opened it!! Karen
