Dare I interupt the matboard craze for something completely different
Do a gallery search for Buckle Cards to see samples of these. The instructions may sound complicated, but it is really a very simple fold.
You can get 2 cards out of a 12 by 12 piece of cardstock.
Cut cardstock to 5 1/2 by 11 1/2.
Score at 4 1/4 and at 8 1/2.
You should now have 2 equal sections (#1, 2) and one shorter one (#3).
In section 1 you will cut 3 sides of a square using a craft knife to form the buckle. The square will not be centered in the section. The square will be approximately 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches. It will be about 2 inches up from the bottom and 1 1/4 inches from the fold between panels 1 and 2. The side facing this fold will be the uncut side of the square. If you are making multiples of this card, make yourself a template of panel 1 with the square completely cut out. THen you can trace and cut quickly. Check now to make sure the card folds properly so you can make ajustments if needed. The buckle cutout should slip under section 3 when scetions 1 and 3 are both folded towards the center. While the card is folded, adhere a 1 3/8 by 1 3/8 piece of colored CS to panel 3. This is the size of our square punch. On top of that layer a 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 piece of white CS (an alpha accent). Now open up the card and stamp away! This idea was inspired by a square card make and take at our last Erie, PA SCS meeting presented by Kathy Atherton. For a square buckle card, start with a 4 1/4 by 11 1/2 piece of CS, using the same principle.
I tried to search under buckle cards, but only got cards with actual buckles on them. Did I di something wrong? You did mean search in Splitcoast, right?

I DID IT I DID IT!! Kim, it turned out really cute! Next time though I think I'll wait for the ink to dry before closing it.....Other than that it turned out good. I did as you suggested and made a template first, so the next ones will be quicker. Thanks so much for the cute idea!!
I was first introduced to Buckle Cards during the Connecticut Stamping Bus Tour back in April. There is a company called "The Paper Cut" that makes pre-made buckle cards in White Luster and Cream Luster. They come 10 in a pack with envelopes and measure 4.75 x 4.75. Suggested retail price is $5.50 per pack. Check out their website at www.thepapercut.com. The buckle cards are a relatively new item, and I don't think they are on the website yet, but you can call the company to order. I met the owner at a rubber stamp convention in West Springfield, MA, and he was very pleasant to talk to.
I will have to try these out! I also so a really cool card today and will have to see if I can make one and if it comes out presentable, I will post with instructions. It was just too cute!

I tried making one of those buckle cards. I got everything up to the part of attaching the piece to the section 3. When I close it, it doesn't line up with the cut one on section 1. Help! What did I do wrong? Am I the only one having a problem. Seems like everyone else figured it out.
