The Family Tree
By Olive Walters.
We’ve got a family album
Like a family tree
A thrill to turn the pages
The pictures we can see.
Starting off with grands and greats
Then slowly down the line
Like a book of history
A journey through the time.
Fashions start to alter
Mustaches come and go
Ladies skirts skip up and down
A proper fashion show.
Top hats change to boaters
To caps then none at all.
Ladies bonnets disappear
And so does grannies shawl.
Picture’s change to colour.
Black and white has gone
A different place, a different time
So much to look upon
But what is so amazing
Is the likeness we can see
Showing up the genes
Right through our family tree.

Genealogy and My Family
By Donna G. Fowler.
I look up at this huge old tree
And wonder where my family will be
Each branch is different then the other
Meant special for my sisters and brother.
My mom and dad will go right here
He was once in the Army, what a noble career
And mom she love to stay at home
And raise us kids, till we were grown.
My grandparents traveled from Kentucky to Ohio
And back they went, now that’s their bio
Boxes and boxes of pictures I hold
Some are clear, other’s with folds
All I really want to say
Is don’t forget the family you have today
Just to unbury the ones of the past
Make memories today that will always last.
