Melissa -
If you look in the gallery section and go to individual members galleries and look at Beate's work, she has the instructions for faux silk. I do not know how to do faux leather, and have not see instructions for it either. I hope this helps!
Faux Leather:
Take small pieces of Masking tape and tape them over your Cardstock. Make sure all of your CS is covered. Now rub classic ink all over. Add clear embossing powder and emboss. Done!
I have one example in the Gallery under "In the Wild". My only try so far...but I love the look. I used the Late November Spectrum pad first, then More Mustard, then really rust.
Hugs,
You can also do faux suede. You take your liquid applique, and brayer it onto your cardstock. If you mix w/ reinker it will change the color. Heat with your heat gun. You can also use some sandpaper and rough it up. I have even burned my cardstock to make it look aged. I have a card posted under Brushstroke Horses.
