Anyone have any tips for stamping on pencils? I know about using the bkgrd stamp & stazon, but mine are slipping & it's hard to judge when to quit rolling. Thanks!
I stamp on pencils all the time. I don't restrict myself to the big background stamps either (though that is the easiest way to do them)
I buy the round pearlized or metallic finish pencils at Dollar Tree...I can get around 10 to 12 for $1. It's a great deal and it means if I mess one up, I don't feel too bad; I just give it to my kids to use.
I ink up the Filligree with Stazon and lay it face up. Then I carefully, holding the pencil at each end, roll the pencil over the stamp. You get a feel for how much to turn the pencil to get complete coverage, but you can also mark the eraser on one side, put that mark on top, then roll the pencil until the mark is back on top again. You'll know you rolled it completely then.
I've also used smaller stamps and rolled the pencil across those. It's not as hard as it sounds...you just have to be sure to stagger the images so they aren't all on one side. Stipple Shells is a good one; done on a pearlized pink pencil with purple Stazon...it's very pretty.
I did the same as JanTink, stamping on pencils was so fun...once and a while when we were getting a little cocky we slipped, but found if you spray with stamp cleaner right away it comes off and you can stamp it again. We used the new safari bg stamp, was that cool looking....in timber brown staz-on.
My friend grandson wants more of those cool pencils.
This is one that I did with my daycare kids too they loved picking out the stamps and ink colors, girly girls all the way, they chose pink passion craft pad and picked the flower from pocket fun and had a blast. We heat set the ink, keep the pencil a little ways away, you can burn it.
HTH, Happy stamping in MN.

I never thought of stamping on pencils! My son and daughter would love to do this for school. I was just getting ready to try some of the micro beaded pens and now I will definitely need to try the pencils. Thanks for the idea!
