CLOSED/SWAPPING* OH GIRL! PRIMA PAPER DOLLS Swap! Due 9/30/13

I just LOVE the new PRIMA Paper Doll Stamps! If you haven't seen them -- look: prima paper doll stamps - Google Search

CHA Peek 5-Paper Doll Stamps, Junkyard Findings, and Donna Downey Stencils!! - Prima

If you don't have them and want to find them for sale on line, I've seen them on ebay, at 7kidscollegefund.com, Prima marketing online, frantic stamper, Blue Moon Scrapbooking, etc... I bought them at an LSS.
Note -- I have no affiliation to any of those stores and can't say I've used them all, just saw through an internet search who had them.

So this swap is about using those PRIMA Paper Doll Stamps to make some cute items featuring those Paper Dolls! You could make the dolls themselves as freestanding paperdolls, or on magnets, on the front of cards (you must include envelopes if so), on tags/tag books, as gift tags/bookmarks, with chipboard accents or words to use in scrapbooks, as bookmarks, etc.

REQUIREMENTS: They must be sturdy and at least two layers. If they are the paper dolls, yes, they should stand up in some way. Each item should feature the full doll, not just a part. They must be colored neatly. You must embellish them... if not the doll itself, then the background if its a card or tag or such. Get creative and have fun!

QUANTITY: This is a 3+1 swap. Send 4, receive back 3 different ones.

DUE DATE: Due in my hands by 9/30/13. Late items will be returned unswapped. Mail early.

MAILING: Be sure you mail them with cardboard or such around them to ensure they don't get bent up in an envelope. Your SCS ID must be on each item on the BACK. Package them separately please either in baggies or saran wrap or such so they don't snag on each other.
PM me when you are ready to mail to me (I moved this year so don't use an old address). Send sufficient postage for a return -- remember, the return items may weigh more so be sure to send extra -- AND INCLUDE A SELF-ADDRESSED LABEL for the return.

PRIZES will be offered along the way for fun too!!
Prize 1 - 10 Tags - Post #44 - winner Mlecuyer
Prize 2 - Angel wings stamp - Post #90 - winner Parknslide
Prize 3 - 1 Border Stamp - Post #179 -- winners (1 border stamp each) - Serenity_Stamper, Parknslide, Venus@home

Hi Paige -- So glad you are joining! These are sooo cute! I can't wait to get more of them even. :) Stopping by the LSS tonight I hope to see if they have any more in. They are selling them out as fast as they get them in... I had to special order to have them hold some for me!

StampinGoodDeeds 06-25-2013 01:10 PM

WOW!! Everyone must be out having fun this summer as it is far too quiet here on SCS!

StampinGoodDeeds 06-25-2013 01:12 PM

I noticed Simon Says Stamp also sells some!

StampinGoodDeeds 06-26-2013 09:09 AM

I do hope we get more players!

Paige 06-26-2013 12:00 PM

Woohoo, my order has shipped! Can hardly wait to play paper dolls!

smokiesgal 06-26-2013 03:25 PM

Susan, sign me up. I just purchased one of these lovelies today at my LSS and anxious to create! I would love to play.

parknslide 06-26-2013 03:52 PM

I just received my order from eclectic Paperie: Prima. I have 3 dolls to play with. I'll take a spot.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-27-2013 06:31 AM

Hi Dell! Good to 'see' you! Welcome to the swap!

I love paper dolls... takes me back to being a kid and the simple toys and hours of enjoyment I had with paper dolls then even.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-27-2013 06:32 AM

Awesome! Welcome! Which 3 did you get? I've bought three and am planning to stop by the LSS to see if they got in new ones tonight... :)

Another addiction! :)

StampinGoodDeeds 06-27-2013 06:37 AM

Pass on the word about this swap too!
One more spot to fill and then it would be open for 2nd spots too if you like.
You may use the same stamp even to make more than one spot, as long as you are coloring/embellishing them differently.
I'm thinking of trying out various textiles and such for embellishing.

Another possible idea for fun -- making additional outfits/accessories and making them doll kits.

What ideas do you all have?

What are you using to support the stamp to stamp with? I don't have a block that long so am planning to use a hardback book. :)

I haven't measured or tested yet, but do they fit in the longer business size envelopes for cards and pieces?

I wonder if I can find those slim case tins that fit these...

Pocket, Ruffle & Peasant dolls. I won a $15 gift certificate in a challenge at eclectic Paperie and the doll stamps are what I decided to buy. I purchased Julie Nutting's book a couple years ago---I have to hunt through my stash to find it and get some ideas. I remember at the time I bought the book thinking that there should be stamps to go with the book.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-27-2013 09:12 AM

Fun! I think I havev Pocket and Ruffle too, not sure what the third one is called, will have to check. I bought the wings and the tag pad too. :)

smokiesgal 06-27-2013 05:37 PM

Where do you locate the name of your stamp? I don't see it on mine.

smokiesgal 06-27-2013 05:40 PM

I just located her name on the Prima website. It is Mia.

Christina612 06-28-2013 04:00 AM

Hello! Yes, Susan, sign me up! I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm here to play! Lol.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-28-2013 06:30 AM

Hi Christina! Too funny! Glad you are here to play though! You and DD will have fun with these I bet!

StampinGoodDeeds 06-28-2013 06:31 AM

Yes, I did.
I went to the LSS last night and bought a few more.
Crazy, eh? I think I have five of them now. She had in three others but I didn't get them... yet.... :)

What is amazing to me is that the store survives. They don't have many classes and every time I have been in there, I am literally the only customer. Bummer. I keep hoping to meet other crafters here or stampers but am beginning to think I am the Lone Stamper!!! Even when I've gone into Archivers there has only been one customer. I may try to go to one of their crop nights or something. Most of their classes seem so basic to me I hate to pay for them.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-28-2013 06:37 AM

And that means we have passed the 5 mark so if anyone wants a second spot, you can do that too!!!

Paige 06-28-2013 07:17 AM

My dolls haven't arrived yet, but sign me up for a second spot as I know I'm going to be having too much fun soon! Thanks!

As far as a stamp block, I may end up using one of my plates from the big shot.

smokiesgal 06-28-2013 09:54 AM

I might just go buy another doll at my LSS to do another spot. Or do we have to use 2 diff dolls. I made the mistake of going to the website looking for my doll's name and I am so in love with all of them now!

CherryLime 06-28-2013 10:54 AM

I would like a spot to start....I just ordered some of these stamps today.

StampinGoodDeeds 06-28-2013 11:55 AM

Good idea!!! I didn't think of those!!! Thanks!

You can use the same doll if you like and just do two different sets or items since you can use them many ways! Maybe cards with one, or doll sets with one, or who knows what other creations!

Yeah, I know the addiction... 5 now and counting...

Oh, and does that mean you want a second spot or just thinking about it still? : )

I am just thinking for now.

morgainegeiser 06-28-2013 05:02 PM

O.K., I bought one of these today at the LSS (I was the only one in this store). So I have to have a reason to play - not sure what I will make. Sign me up for one spot, if I get addicted I will come back for more, but first I have to decide what to do with the one I bought. Off to find some inspiration - saw some on Pinterest.

mlecuyer 06-28-2013 11:25 PM

Please sign me up for swap/paper dolls

I would like to do this swap - it is my first time doing one here. What else do I need to do? Have no clue, but I got the stamps just so I could do this swap....they are sooo cute! Can't wait!

Thank you!

Hi Mary!
Welcome to SCS and swapping here.
So every swap has different requirements based on what the hostess lists, but always feel free to ask what things mean or for ideas or pics or such too. This one is pretty open on the requirements -- they are copied below but area always in the first post in this swap thread too. Basically, this is a swap for using the doll stamps. Please make something you are proud of and would give as a gift -- sturdy and well made, which means use quality items (not flimsy cardstock or paper or stuff that falls apart), glue items well, color completely and neatly, etc. You can make all sorts of things with these stamps, so I've left that part open. It could be a set of paperdolls just like the ones we played with as kids; it could be the stamp on the front of a card or journal cover; it could be one made into a sturdy tag or bookmark; it could be stamped onto a scarf or small tote or gift bag... the ideas are endless of course, but have fun creating with them and see what happens! :)

I do try to swap out evenly as much as possible... so if someone has made something that obviously would cost a little more, I try to swap those with others that are similar.

You make 4 total to send me, and receive back 3 items others created. The extra is kept by the hostess (me) for hosting the swap. Be sure to send a little extra postage as the ones coming back may weigh a little more than the items you sent, I return any excess postage to you. Be sure to have it to me by the due date; not mailing it then, but to me by then (I live in Idaho now). Just PM me when you are ready to send and I'll send you my address then that way.

Hope that helps! As others create, they may post pics here too for inspiration, or if you see ideas or such, feel free to post too and share those ideas. Sounds like Roxie already saw some on pinterest too!

You could make the dolls themselves as freestanding paperdolls, or on magnets, on the front of cards (you must include envelopes if so), on tags/tag books, as gift tags/bookmarks, with chipboard accents or words to use in scrapbooks, as bookmarks, etc.

QUANTITY: This is a 3+1 swap. Send 4, receive back 3 different ones.

DUE DATE: Due in my hands by 9/30/13.

We are up to 12 now! Yay! I'll open it up to taking a third spot if we get a couple more players to ensure we have things covered in case we have any drops by the due date.

Hope you are all getting excited and inspired!!!

mlecuyer 07-01-2013 01:40 PM

About what to put the large doll stamp on to ink it up, etc. - yes, as mentioned, I saw that you can use one of the big shot/cuttlebug plates. I happened to have one acrylic block that fit several of the dolls, but saw that you can buy plates made special for the dolls. Since I just HAD to have all the dolls I now decided I'm getting that special plate, as well as the tag pad that has 48 tags that are also made for the doll stamps. But I just had to let everyone know that in a pinch you can use cardboard, a mouse pad and a spoon to ink and stamp them. I had to do this once when we were in our RV and I had hardly any of my supplies with me and had just bought some rubber mounted stamps, but they had no sturdy backs. I was still new to stamping and thought all stamps came with wood or acrylic backs lol. I did some research online and found out how you can stamp without them....reminds me of what we used to do before we had punches, diecuts, etc. now. Just like with paper dolls, we cut them out by hand, right? I started playing with one of my girls so could have my stamp group ladies make one tonight....started to get carried away and stamped the paper doll on lots of other scrap paper I had!
Mary

StampinGoodDeeds 07-01-2013 01:59 PM

Oh I bet the scrap papers make fabulous outfits for these!!! Thanks for the idea spark!

I'm envious you have a stamp club! I was hoping to find one here in Boise but haven't been able to find one yet. Once we get into our house, may have to start one even. :)

slhawes 07-02-2013 05:37 AM

Susan, I would like 2 spots please.
