*Closed and Completed* Be My "Altered" Valentine
 

Quantity: 9+1 (send in 10 receive 9 back--one is for the hostess!)
Due Date: Friday, February 8th

Newbies and International swappers are always welcome!! One requirement is to check in weekly so I know you're still in the swap!! :)


The DEETS:

1. For this swap you will pick a letter from VALENTINE.

2. Then you'll decide what your letter and base will be made from. Some ideas to make your letters and base from are: cereal boxes, envelopes, plastic packaging, aluminum foil, cardboard, container lids ect. You must have your letter mounted to a base that is 6"in height by 4" in width. You can have any shape for your base, round, oval, retangle, triangle, star, heart, ect but you must have the height 6" and the width 4"

3. You will then embellish your letter and base with anything and everything related to VALENTINE's day! buttons, ribbon, bling, clock parts, thread, brads, eyelets, beads, stick pins, emphemera, stickers, feathers, flowers, ect, ect

4. Colors and theme MUST be Valentine related--Reds, pinks, browns, black, creams with love, kisses, hugs, poems, you get the idea--if you send in blue and orange or yellow and green you will not be swapped!

5. You can make this into a banner, accordian display, tag book or ?, I'm leaving that up to you when you receive these. All bases should have a hole on each side at the top for stringing. Let's go 1/2" from the sides at the top and 1/2" down from the top. I'll post an example.


No Vendor Requirements--meaning you can use anything you find or have for this swap.

Shipping: Keep in mind shipping costs...the letters could be different thicknesses than what you send in, please send as much postage as it took you to send in plus a few extra stamps or $$. Any stamps or $$ not used will be returned to you. If you send cash, I print labels online with USPS and include delivery confirmation for free. If you have any questions just ask!

Here's the example, I put together this morning (I didn't embellish). The base is 4x6 and the letter fits within the 4x6. The base can be any shape you want and then decorate the letter and embellish, embellish, embellish....

Subbing for now. You had me until you put the measurements. 6in in height and 4in wide. Mmmmmm......I am at a loss. Right now all I can think about is window types, flooring, cabinets, paint swatches.... My head hurts. We will be working with a contractor to make all the changes and put the house back together

I like non-traditional colors, like the orange, red, greed, tan with plaid hearts valentines I am making now, very Burberry, so I will sit this one out. Thanks for the invite though.

Posted my example....I think it took about 15 min to get things cut and painted...I did a free-hand on the letter---I could have broke out the cricut or printed it as a template....guess I'm saying just keep it simple and homemade! ;)

Oh Steffie, I sure hope it gets easier for you!! So are you just going with basic replacement or are you upgrading? I know you said there wasn't any insurance coverage...did anything come through with FEMA?? Do you have your tree up or are you doing all the holiday decorating? I'm sure it's hard to handle all of this with the holidays around he corner!

Hi Peggie, just wanted to make sure you saw my letter 'L'. Didn't see my name next to it and didn't want you to give it away. I already have ideas for it. :-)

We are upgrading. We need new windows, have been living with out screens for almost 12 years. I love to open my windows so it was always a hassle with the bugs and cats (thankfully I have scaredy cats and rarely got out). We will knock out a wall to open up the living room but it needs a support beam. The wind also damaged our glass door, so we will get that replace as well as get a new 'pretty' front door. The current door is just old and I have painted it but it is time to go. I want a window in the door. FEMA gave us money but it will only cover part of everything we want to do. We have applied for a FEMA loan which is at 1.5%, just waiting to see if we are approved. I am sure we will since DH and I have both have credit ratings over 790. We have learned to live with in our means and we live on salary (mine). We decided to go with smaller house with out alot of upgrades to have a smaller mortgage. This way after we moved in, he quit his job and started his own business. All I have to say is sticking to a budget is VERY VERY hard. :rolleyes:

Oh another way I like to display my banners is to clip each letter to a yardstick, makes for easier banner change out and storage! A way to use those decorated binder clips too!

Sounds like this is going to be a good thing! Lots of new upgrades for you that you've waited a while for! Yeah my budget is blown each month, so I can only imagine how hard it would be if I HAD to stick to it! :/ I'm soooo happy for you though!! Can you post pics of what you're doing? I love to see renovations...I'm such a house hunter and renovation junkie on HGTV!!! :)

Here is one picture where we took all the sheet rock off the wall. This wall needs a support beam, just waiting to see the contractor and when he can start. We decorated it and I have since added lights wrapped around the beams :D. In the background is the messy office. Still trying to dry papers we need to keep
