Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Why "Tagged?" After all, SCS is a Papercrafting Site! Each item must have a COORDINATING (to the Textile item) handmade tag OR other papercrafted item that involves papercrafting (die cut, stamping, etc. on cardstock, DSP, chipboard, etc.) with at least two layers and one embellishments. So could be a tag, could be a notepad, could be a set of handmade cards, a cute bookmark, etc...
Why "Textiles?" Because I love them. The item must be hand/home made, involving textile (sewn fabric, embroidered fabric or crocheted/knitted items).
So basically you will sew or crochet or knit 3+1 items and create coordinated handcrafted tags/items for each! Ideas: doilies, totes/bags, potholders, book covers, coasters, aprons, placements, tablerunners, wall decor, dishcloths, scarves, ornaments, hats, etc. (Clothing items must be "one size fits all" types and for adults, not kids.) Quality work only, something you would be proud to give as a gift or could sell in a shop even. I try to swap out fairly evenly so note if they are smaller items, will be swapped with the smaller items, etc. See the next post also for lists of ideas to inspire you. I'll keep adding more!
Due 9/5/12 in my hands. I'm making the due date out 5 months on this one to give us all time to work on them so we can enjoy making them as well and get creative! AND it gives you a jump on some Christmas gifts too.
Mailing: Keep in mind items mailed back may be bulkier so plan for that. Send extra postage also for that reason, or use flat rate boxes. Include $ for DC if you would like it on the returns also please -- I highly recommend it for tracking purposes. PM me for address when ready to send.
You must check in regularly and within two weeks of due date to confirm participation. Life happens, if you must drop, be sure to notify me in advance so as to avoid being reported to SCS. Please be sure to post when you receive back as well to close out.
Anyone else love textiles too?
Also, when you know what you are going to make, please post so I can list that too. Sharing pics is also encouraged, and ideas/tips swapping!

Love the September date! But, I do not sew, crochet, or knit. Yet, I love textiles and have lots of fabric! I have an idea for a pin cushion which would use fabric yet require minimal hand-stitching and I love creating stick pins...so hope my idea meets the requirments; if it does meet the swap requirements, I would love a spot and my project will be pin cushion with stick pins.

Sounds pretty sweet to me! I LOVE stick pins (athough I haven't really figured out how to incorporate them in my cards, yet)!
Vickie -- Sounds like a winner to me, still textile and stitched (even if minimally!) and I know your fabulous creations so I'm all for it!
Sheree -- Love those vinyl book covers you make!!! I am always in awe of your items, you know that... in fact, I have one of your bags with me today (everyday!)! I don't believe in reincarnation... but if I did, I'd want to come back as an apprentice to you or your teachers aide!
Can't wait to see all the amazing creations you crafty ladies come up with!
Very carefully... hahaha... I did a couple and have them on my blog and in my gallery I think.

I love the bead sets and ones that 'frame' beads... like the teapot one I made with the bead in the middle of the metal teapot, or the angel wings and halo to go with beads, etc.
I just love the fabric creations from so many of you in my past swaps. In fact, I have been using my garden aprons for the last two weeks, and they have been spectacular! And my garden journal that is fabric/canvas covered... its where I put all my garden plans/plots/records. I have tissue holders and chapstick holders always with me, in my quilted totes, and my pincushions on my sewing table! I have the vinyl journal and another fabric book cover on my table next to my chair in the living room at all times. And a fabulous potholder hanging in my kitchen. And those are just a few of them! Constant reminders of the friends on here and fabulous talent!
I will take 2 spots.. No idea what I will make though. I used to sew all of my ex husbnads kids clothes when they were little. THAT was a long time ago since they are 19 and 17 now. Maybe this will get my sewing skills not so rusty........

YEA! Jennifer's here! How's Lil' Miss?? (Oh! Let her know I've been reading her books to Miss B!)
I'll be doing tote bags for my second spot. I just took home from school about 15 yesterday, that just need a little finished on. They are class samples from last school year. I'm not teaching sewing this year and it makes me sad. Each spot will be a little different but about the same size. It was carma: a reason to finish that pile I took out of the car this morning. I have spring break all next week and I'm staying home so I can sew away. Last year I went on a cruise, so I'm just boring this year.

I wish I had a week to be home sewing... I'm lucky if I get to take a day off next week, though I do have every other Friday off and am glad for that!!!
I can't imagine you not teaching sewing! Just fine if they are all different, not a problem at all.
I think I'll do something with reuseable snack bags....for now...that however may change...or I might just need to take another spot...but I'll wait and see....
Sometimes I feel like people are following me on here?? Or am I following them?? LOL
How is your peanut Toni? Camille has her birth annoucement on her dresser propped up against her fish tank!!!!
Wasn't it Bobby Brown that had a song about being followed? Shoot! lol!
Peanut is my little "punk". Just when I've had all I can take and she's on the very last little edge of my nerves...is when she gives me her biggest grin. Punk kid.
Shereel...so jealous...a whole week to craft (sigh).... Where did you cruise to? I've always wanted to go.

Just stopping by to say hello and to wish everyone a Blessed Easter weekend and Easter Day.
Hmmmmm...since we have a September due date, who knows, maybe I'll learn to crochet between now and then...maybe! LOL I used to do lace net darning but I think it's a lost art now; all my supplies are in the attic and I'm sure I forget how to read a pattern for it! Maybe when I retire I'll pull that out again.
I'm mostly glad to have a break. It's been a hard year. My mother in law died on
Thanksgiving and I fell and broke my knee cap. I had my parents for 2 weeks in the fall also when Dad had back surgery. Some people at my job have made it a really stressful year also. I'm teaching 2 subjects I haven't really taught before. Adult roles is tuff curriculum. I ended up with the 25 tuffest freshmen in the district, as their mentor teacher-they are stinkers. I may just stay in bed with a book for a day or two to revieve to make it the last mini term. I do love my students but some days-
My cruise last year was to Mexico. It was really inexpensive-$400.00 a person for a week for the first 2 people and $200.00 for the second 2 per cabin. We drove to Cedar City on a Friday night and then to Los Angeles Saturday to get on the ship. My parents and my sister's family went so we had 3 cabins. Cruises are greats for the money if you don't have to pay alot to get to the dock. I think my teenage nephews ate way more than they paid in food. I do plan to sew while I have the project mess out.

We called Little miss "PUNKY" from the beginning. She was born with dark brown hair in a mohawk. Then when she started picking her clothes.... looked just like punky brewster. Still call her punky or punky doodle on occasion.
Hooray, you're hosting again!! Sign me up for 2 spots. One spot will be for a tissue box cover/organizer. I'll get back to you on the second. Thanks for letting me know about this fun swap!
Yay! Sherri, Annette and Monica are here for this party too! With this crowd, its got to be a party!!!
Jen - I LOVE your reusable snack bags! I love all the projects you have been sewing! Those art kits were fabulous too! Would be perfect for crochet hooks is what I was thinking!
Vickie -- I say GO FOR IT! I want to take a class on learning to knit, just have to find one and do it! haha The lace darning sounds so cool too!
Sheree --- Treat yourself to a spa day, whether at home or at a spa. You deserve it! That is a task but you are helping to mold the minds of the future!
I personally want to try to make the cute quilted scissor cases... I have patterns even for them and haven't gotten to making them. I also have the embroidery machine so have to get moving on it too, maybe combined to make embroidered scissor cases...
