One day while browing crafting websites, I saw some fabulous Kilt pins that had loops on them and charms hanging from them. I love to wear shawls or scarves and thought they would look wonderful on them. So I thought to myself, "What a great idea for a swap!"
They are available at Hobby Lobby and I also found an inexpensive supplier on eBay for them, as well as have seen several places online too.
I have seen lots of charm bracelet supplies as well through Oriental Trading Company and on Etsy.com
DUE DATE: December 1, 2010 (then you should have them back in time for Christmas gifts even)
- PINS must have at least 3 charm hanging from each kilt pin. Some kilt pins have the loops already on them, 3 or more loops even. IF YOU USE THE KILT PINS WITHOUT LOOPS: You must have the charms or items on the side of the pin that does not clasp, so they wonít fall off when the person opens or closes it.
- BRACELETS must have at least 5 charms hanging from them.
- The charms must coordinate in some way (have a theme) on each pin or bracelet.
- Since this is a stamping site, you must have a stamped item either as one of the charms or you must have a stamped tag on each (i.e. with your name/id or such).
Note: You may use gold or silver tone ones, add more charms or beads, add ribbons or fibers, etc... Get creative!
PM me for my address when you are ready to mail. Wrap each pin separately please to protect them. Please be sure to add your SCS ID to each one so the recipient knows who the artist is. Mail them in a protected package please (recommend the small flat rate boxes or similar). I recommend DC# for your own tracking.
Be sure to send enough postage to return them, and I also recommend sending enough extra to get DC# on the return (I think its 75 cents additional).
Please check in regularly on this thread also and share your inspiration and ideas!
Yeah! I'm so glad you are all joining. I thought those pins looked so fabulous and my mind began to reel with ideas on how to decorate them. The ebay dealer I found even discounts the shipping if you order more than one order (each order has 10) so I got a lot of them also through that and then thought, why not host a swap!?
Looking forward to seeing all that you creative divas come up with!
So what kind of themes are you thinking about???
Just some ideas from ones I've seen online:
Hobbies of course (stamping, scrapbooking, painters, etc.)
Toys (teddy bears, trains, dolls, etc)
Girly Girls (lipstick, shoes, purses)
Nature (bees, birds, flowers, flowerpots, beehives, etc.)
Survivor (pink ribbons, beads, words like Hope, Life, etc.)
Christian (cross, dove, fish, words like faith, love, hope, etc.)
Movies or books (Alice in Wonderland, Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, etc...)
Hi Everyone --
Turning out to be a busy week for me... had dental appts yesterday that took up a big chunk of the day and was wiped out afterwards... then found out I have to move offices again (this is like the 5th time in two years)... looking at homes... and DH let me know the weather is good to get the painting done that I've wanted done for a while so I know I'll be off picking paint today and that looks like my weekend will be booked with that and we have a concert on Saturday!!!
So I may not be on as much as normal this week... but will check in at least once a day here!
I found them, I found them yea! I got my pins @ Jo Anns and some bead and then I went to Michael's and found some more goodies have to clean house first but I will have something to play with when I get done
I purchased several of them from an online store -- got them in yesterday and excited to try them out. If anyone cannot find them, just let me know if you need me to send and you can reimburse me for them when you mail them back in.
