It's a Styrofoam tree. At first I thought about using a pincushion but I didn't have one.

Thanks - I like the black one the best as well. I'm glad I made one for myself. This was my first time doing these and I learned alot.

1. ~ check out the Gallery and You Tube before you start - get some ideas and make notes.
2. ~ don't buy TONS of beads, start small. Once you open the packages you are stuck with them. Find packs that have a variety (ie: color and silver and/or gold, and shapes)
3. ~ don't be afraid to make mistakes.
4. ~ use a quick drying glue. I used Alieens Quick Dry Tacky Glue but I have seen Hot glue guns used.
5. ~ be inventive and think out side the box. I realized after I was done that I could have used felt, my big shot and a layered flower die, and used the corsage pin head as the center of the flower.

Just some things to consider if you haven't done these before. I'm sure everyone has a "live and learn" word of wisdom.

HTH

one pin that I did once was a pin with the pearl like head, then I had stuck a chain with a bead on the end of it to be used as a dangle, then a button, and finished by putting another bead on it, I layed it down and walked away from it for a while, what I didn't realize was, with the area that I was playing in I also had glue out and glue had gotten on that last bead....soooo the bead dried and button ended up sitting at an angle, so what it looks like is a tilted hat. a screw up that I ended up liking. hmmmm, that's the way it goes allot of times

LOL- isn't it always the way? I have found that as a crafter, most times things don't work out how we planned them, and in the end it is better that way. Because really, who would know the difference?

Working on my holders, I'm just getting started because I was watching a screener of "Silver Lining Playbook", what a GREAT movie. I'm trying to get in as many nominated movies before the Oscars. So far I'm doning pretty well on the Best Picture category.

I'm using my Cricut because it doesn't get enough usage... according to DH...

Cricut, great machine. I have not used mine much in the past 2 yrs, I had a gypsy-well I still have it but it quit working, I made a move and when I got to the other end I turned it on and, well it had died. They are not cheap, so it will be a while before I get another. Then I'll have to send it and the old one in to Provo so they can transfer the carts from the old to the new...any way I used my cricut all the time with the gypsy I just loved the fact that you can move the images and have almost zero waste

Thumbs up

I have one set on holders, I then put them in SU! clear envelopes and then into a gallon ziploc with my SCS name and spot#1 on it. One down...

Well I was cleaning up and found that I still have ALOT of corsage pins left so, I'm going to take another spot. I will also take heed of my own words and think outside the box on these. I already have plans, let's hope they live up to my vision. I'll then mix them up with the ones I already made, and I'll be good to go!

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

I love my Cricut but I now want a Silhouette (sp), then I can cut SVG files and those are endless!

LOL!!! I have to chuckle when some people ask if they take long to make or are hard to do...the hardest part is deciding what you want on those pins. These little buggers are probably the fastest little things to make

Woohoooo!!! I'll be joining if you host another swap!

Thanks for the suggestion to look for broken jewelry chains for dangles! That is a great idea! I'm sure broken chains and costume jewelry could be found at yard sales, too, for very little cost.

There is a small flea market in this area. I'll have to make it a point to stop by there tomorrow morning to look for jewelry.

Yeah, I want to have a good stock pile of that stuff but here it's so hard to find it, I think people in this area just throw stuff away---how dare they

Today, I am the Guest Designer at 3 Girl Jam. Hop on over and check out the post and my project. Leave a comment showing 3GJ love, too! And there ribbon (I think) is so reasonably priced, ships fast, and comes in lots of gorgeous colors!

My good friend, Abby, sponsored me and she wrote such a kind post on her blog. Take a read

And, then there is my post at Sassy Moments.

I started making my pins today... have 8 done. On my way!!!! I didn't realize I had so many beads on hand. I just wish I had some cute "special" beads. Anyone have a Silhouette Cameo? What do you think the key word is to search on a holder?

Good Greif, I'm trying to post the links but SCS is acting a bit wonky. Keep your fingers crossed.
How do you attach the ribbon? Do you just stick the pin through it?

After reading through the thread, YouTube'ing for hours and making a few...I'm jumping in! Put me down for one spot for now. I think the holder will be the most challenging but after all the ideas I'm sure to find something! Love all the ideas!! <3

Deb, beleive me when I say that I am NOT computer savy either. LOL. I really don't know much about the machine I just keep seeing them on posts here and there. The only place I know of to purchase one is Amazon (because they are the "Walmart" of cyber space).

The SVG file is what's called a "vector" file whatever THAT is. In any case, and very basically speaking, it will turn clip art and fonts into die cuts and then with a USB cable connected to a die cutting machine, you can cut them out.

There was a program called SCAL ~ Sure Cuts A Lot ~ that you could, through your computer have it "talk" to your Cricut and it would do the same thing. Only Provo Craft shut that down fairly quickly.

If you are interested I'm SURE You Tube has all sorts of info on it.
