Jennifer ~ What a great idea for one of your gratitude journals! Thanks for sharing the idea.
I made one for my Dad for Christmas. He had a stroke a few months ago. Ever since, he's been down and discouraged. I hoped the journal would help him see how much he has in his life to be grateful for instead of focusing on the negative stuff.
I'm sure your friend will appreciate your thoughtful gift!
I know that when someone receives a gj as a gift or makes ones, she or he will be hooked for life! Mahalo Jennifer for creating this wonderful place for the expansion of gratitude! And if we don't have enough participants to fill up the spots, it will all work out. And who knows, I may have some extras to send!
Just got back to Kauai last night. Have I mentioned what an amazing adventure I am on with the recovery from surgery for a broken/fractured bone in my foot? Surgery was August 4 and the long recovery has been moving along just fine......... And then the X-rays on Monday showed that the bone has refractured.... I knew that there was something going on. Anyway - what is most interesting to me is my attitude towards it all is so calm and un-upset.where does that come from? I sure don't know, but I like this me who is emerging.
I am such a sap.. I actually got a bit teary reading that Marilyn. That is amazing to see such positive changes in yourself. I am sure living in Hawai'i it is nothing to have the sunshine and great weather all the time and being so close to the ocean... but being from land locked COLD colorado..... I could not think of a better palce to recover from surgery than Hawai'i.
As far as spots not filling... I am not too worried. I have a friend or two that said they would help me make pages to fill if needed. I do not htink you can have too many journals like this.. there is always someone to give it to as a gift!
Mahalo Jennifer. For me it is interesting to note that if asked to describe me throughout the years, I bet that most people would have said - a positive person. True and yet this is different and better yet!
Okay Jennifer......I'm taking the plunge! Please add me to each group! Thanks! I think that I could really benefit from a gratitude journal. Too down in the dumps & this may just be the thing for me to realize all I have and am grateful for!

Yeah Robin, I am so glad you decided to join us!!!!!
Glad I started this early and have 2 out of the 5 done. This weekend will be busy. There is a 7th & 8th grade dance this Friday night which I am volunteering at. The theme is 'Glow'. Should be fun. After that my daughter has a sleep over with 2 friends. Not sure why it is called a sleep over since no one sleeps! A rep from Anderson Windows is coming to the house to give us an estimate on replacing all the windows. This is something that we need to get done since they are old and drafty.
We met with a kitchen designer on Monday and hopefully soon we can get a new kitchen. It is so hard to live with a kitchen that is falling apart. We have had no oven since the Storm in October, so we have been using the crockpot, toaster oven, grill, microwave and stove top to do all the cooking. I really miss baking, if I have cookies or cakes to bake I have to use my friends oven. In the 12 years of living in the house, we haven't spent any money updating it. We just painted and changed some doors. Now Sandy has pushed us towards updating the kitchen, master bath and getting new flooring. I am so glad we didn't purchase new furniture this past summer like we had planned. It would have been ruined.

As crappy as things like Sandy are... sometimew the good things that happen make them seem better.
Mine are heading your way with one extra set just in case! Sent $$$s to cover shipping. If you don't need the extra set, please return as I am making six gratitude journals. Ay extra $$$s are yours since I never want you to go in the red for doing these swaps!
Working on set #3. So funny but for some reason I thought there were 8 spots (don't know why I thought this) so I cut enough 6x6 for 8 spots then I kept reading about people doing 1 out of 5 done etc and thought hhhhmmmmm guess I should re-read the first page. Yup I have 5 spots!! LOL Sometimes the mind is the first thing to go!
I have been going rounds with binding too. I tried just hole punch and rings on the last journal swap but it looked terrible. I think it was because the pages were all different sizes. I did not want to put them into an album that you had ot take the pages out of the sleeves every day to write on.. I hope we get some good ideas!
Oh, when you have your covers done will you post a photo please? And thanks for the reminder that I have to get to making some as well. I was going to use a Bind It All to put my journal together. Other ideas I've seen besides the rings are punching holes in the pages and then tying ribbon or fabric strips through the holes. But I want something that will allow the pages to turn freely and easily, kwim. If I run across any other ideas I will be sure to post here.
I had the last flight out of Miami on Friday heading back to NJ. As we landed, it was starting to turn over to snow. By the time I dropped off my 2 co-workers at home, it was getting pretty bad. Just put it in 4 Wheel drive and drove home slow. Spent the day on Saturday shoveling and going sledding. Lots of hot choco (with mom's having an adult spike of Stoli Choc Raspberry)
Time to get back into making these. I am 50% done with group 4. Now to think of another idea for group 5.
