I LOVE composition books! They're inexpesive and altering them is easy, fast, and sooo much fun! They make GREAT GIFTS or you can use them all for yourself to keep those important things that you don't want to lose! I was inspired by the new "smash" book by K&Co that just hit the market!
Deets: For this swap, YOU WILL PICK A THEME, be it vintage, bohemian, pretty, shabby chic, modern, techno, you decide... then you will, of course post you want to join and let me know your theme, then you will buy 4 composition books (most stores carry them for a $1) and alter the front, back and inside covers with your theme using any and everything from your stash. You will also alter 4 (or more if you want) pages inside that go along with your theme. This could be by adding a few pockets, painting the first page and adding a quote, stamping a page, adding a favorite clipping from a magazine based on your theme, adding tabs or making dividers out of pages, ect. Try to make all 4 books as close to the same as you can, but you are not required to have them exactly the same! Feel free to stamp, paint, modge podge, glitter, distress, emboss, ect....the sky's the limit. There are NO NVR's. Just do your best work and be creative!!
Newbies are welcome to participate!! Feel free to ask questions!!

Oh, I'm so excited! I'm a newbie, so this will be my first swap, but I love altering composition books. I'd like two spots, one will be recipe books (not sure if it will be whimsical or vintage) and the other will be travel journals (vintage perhaps).
Happy Monday Ladies! I hope you enjoyed spoiling the men in your life this past weekend. I sure did, fishing, ice cream, then a little BigFoot Hunters.
I had to laugh when I read your post about a fortune cookie journal--my 13 yo daughter loves fortune cookies, always saves the fortunes. It totally messed with her world when she and I both got the same fortune on the same day though.
I just got a book from the library, Print & Stamp Lab by Traci Bunkers and it's all about using unconventional items for rubber stamping, things like the bottoms of flip-flops and so forth. i've been looking for a stamp with just straight lines on it, and one example in the book that looked promising was using a furniture leg tip--one of those hard rubber coaster-type things with lines on it. I'll have to check out Lowe's soon!
Who's that in your avitar? Smurfette and a Brunette Smurfette? Smurfs were a favorite carton of the 80's.
I bought my composition books today.
I'm a smurfs fan, but I love Smurfette... However I'm not now nor shall I ever be blonde. (Way too pale for that... haha) So when I saw this I had to take advantage of it, real or not.

Me too...I just don't like the glasses, they start to hurt my nose and ears.....My kiddo and I just saw Kung Fu Panda 2...sooooo cute!! I LOVE kids movies!
Evening, I am JCI. DD and I are watching The Ten Commandments, the old one. My DD got it from her mentor for Easter and she has never watched it. It's been decades since I've seen it.
Things around here are stressful. I'm praying for my BIL's dad who had open heart surgery today. I'm praying for him.

I'll keep him in my thoughs... Is he having it done in Wausau? The heart surgeons at Aspirus and St. Claires are both wonderful. He's in good hands.

Yep, they are in Aspirus in Wausau. I stopped to visit yesterday but stayed with his family in the family lounge. He is still gaining strength back and his heart rhythms are still in arrhythmia.
My own dad had stints implanted in 2001 in the same hospital. It was also the day he quit smoking. I'm still playing cribbage and learning gardening hints from him now.
