That's a good idea. We take Charlie to yard sales on the weekends and he just loves it. But he hangs around with me. If Himself takes him while I go inside a garage or house he is really antsy until he sees me. Then he acts as if he hasn't seen me in a year. I think he trusts Himself but he is MAMA'S boy. And I am eating that up!

My clips are almost done! I'll put a few finishing touches on them and hopefully get them in the mail Thursday!

Good afternoon, ladies! I don't know why my notifications work sometimes and not other times. Gosh. I'd be waaaay more social if my e-mail would tell me what's going on over here all the time. It'll work for like one day, then not again until I come back. Time to go and tinker in my account a bit.

I bought some dyes and some containers over the weekend and I will be dyeing some clips and whatever else I can find around the house.

I would help with the box tops, but like Sybil said, I'd get skint for sending ours anywhere. My kiddo is in 4th grade and every month, the "Label Lady" comes to visit and whichever class brings in the most box tops gets a popsicle party or some kind of party. I think it changes, and I never get a popsicle or anything . All the taco dinners, baked cakes (and cupcakes), labels and binders we buy around here and I haven't gotten one lick of a popsicle...however my kid comes home with bright lips and a sugar high every so often. LOL. I do it for the educational reasons anyway, but clearly, my daughter is in it for the sugar highs...

Good morning

It's been so long since I joined SCS - I don't even remember what the options were for receiving notifications. No email alerts though, that's for sure. I don't get enough email to make it worth the effort. Google Chrome knows this is one of my regular web sites, and has the screen ready for me when I log onto the internet. (That Google is so smart...I wonder what else it knows about me? On second thought, maybe it's better if I don't know the answer to that question.)

We are about two weeks away from swapping! Check in please if you haven't posted recently. Let us know you are still playing along.

Did you check out the "My Subscriptions" page? You can choose if you want instant, daily, etc. notifications. Mine is on instant.
There have been times when I didn't get any notifications, but I found that I had accidently clicked on the "unsubscribe" line instead of the line where you go to SCS.
That is what works for me.

Good morning

I will check that out, Sybil. Thanks! I need to turn it on instant!

I use Firefox as my default browser and Chrome every now and then. I love Chrome, but for some reason, it wont display full screen on my Macbook and it drives me nuts. I'll try to figure out how to fix that.

HI! Everytime I go to the post office, there are 10+ people in line. You would think working from home would make it easier to just run to the post office. I will get there, just need to find more than 10 minutes to be gone from my desk

Good morning

Happy Mail Alert from yesterday - SybilMcC your package has arrived safely.

I think Sybil has a few Christmas elves stashed away in her house. They sprinkled magic pixie dust all over these and the clips are just adorable. The angels are sooo pretty and the santa....he's just perfect! I might have to copy that one...a whole tree full of them would be a great Christmas tree. I have lots of clips for my Christmas tree, and this one will be one of my favorites.

I love the donut - I am having it with my coffee this morning. hahahaha Thanks for the angel wings, and the nice little note from Charlie. Give him a cookie and tell him it's from me.

Don't eat the donut. It is for to use as a pincushion. It will give you indigestion!

I am glad you like the clothespins. My craft group is doing the Santas soon, so I made them a page of instructions. I am sharing it with you, and whoever else wants to make them. I did learn that I don't ever in my life want to paint clothespins again. I have a bottle of Rit Red waiting and ready to soak some pins before our next Ladies' Playtime.

Charlie says "Haroof".

Nice instructions - thanks for sharing

Now I'm going to add the SU punch to my next SU order. I have been waiting for an excuse - this is a good one.

Do they still have that little punch? I have had mine forever and a week. I use it a lot.
I am glad the instructions work. I have been learning to use all the stuff Patrick (my grandgeek) put on my computer when he fixed it. All my other things like Works and Word went away, and he downloaded something new and it has really blown my mind. Very different. But I like the fact that I can make a PDF. I am so full of myself.

I downloaded and saved the instructions for the Santa clothespin. He's really cute! Might do this with my stampers group next month!

Joyce & Sybil

That small white oblong punch form looks like it is the Horizontal Slot punch from Stampin' Up! (Assuming that is a regular sized clothespin.) I am very sorry to say but it retired two years ago.

We (Stampin' Up!) do have a set of 3 small punches, the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, that has a small circle, a small 4-petal flower share and a small scalloped circle. These punches would work great as the beard. This set of punches is $16.95 and they are on page 183 of the annual catalog.

Hope that helps. Sandra

Joyce!

I mailed my altered binder clips off to you today (Thursday) by Priority Flat rate. You should have them in a couple of days.

As usual with me, I shipped them off to you before I took pictures to post on SCS and on this thread. Feel free to post a pic if you have time.

Thanks for the information on the punch, Sandra. I have had my slot punch for ages and didn't know it was discontinued. They may have some on e-bay, but it isn't all that necessary for the Santa. Just a strip of white cardstock would be fine.
And the little flowers I used are much smaller than the Itty Bitty punches. I have used a regular 1/4 inch hole punch for the beards but the little flowers made it look a little more fluffy.
I am one of those "make do with what you have when you can" people.

I am glad y'all like the little Santa pattern. I love to share ideas! I am looking forward to seeing what others make in this swap. I don't know if the little Santa would be good for kids, it is a little tedious with the little dots, but my Playtime Girls are really excited about making him.

I could not tell how small the beard flowers were. And I don't have any regular old fashioned clothespins at my house so I could not judge the size very well.

You made a good suggestion....the slot punch may be available on Ebay or here on SCS - for those who are wanting to get one.

Yes, they do take things out of retirement and put them on the Clearance section of the online store. Usually the items are from the previous year or two. Also the items are what I expect are still left in the warehouse...they don't manufacture these items anymore.

As I mentioned in the post below...you might be able to find or ask for the punch on SCS in the Buy, Sell, Trade section. It doesn't hurt to put out a request for the punch if you are really interested in it. It was last for sale in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog for $5.95.

I will check with my SU lady and see if she knows anyone who wants to sell one. The ones I saw on ebay were a little pricey, which is normal for retired stuff sometimes.
But as I said, just a strip of cardstock that size is not to hard to do, the punch is not a real necessity.
The little flowers are from a punch that Paulette told me about a long time ago. She makes the most incredible things and uses this punch, and she "enabled" me and I have used that thing something fierce! Here is one place to get that. If you look back through my gallery and Paulette's you will see it used over and over and over..........

Punch Bunch Five Flower Corner Punch

So now who's enabling?

You know, I've seen Paulette use that punch to make a bazillion flowers, but I don't think I've ever seen her use it as a corner punch!

The Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack flowers might work, but are just larger than the ones I used. I have used this kind of Santa face on other things with bigger flower punches. I just don't have that particular set. But I am sure there is a Santa face somewhere that that particular punch would do perfectly. Maybe a tongue depresser? Or something like that. You can put Santa on anything and it's cute. This is the first time I have made any this small.

Me either. I can't get it to line up well for a corner. But for the flowers.........it is worth having. Especially for inchies. Hint hint hint.

JCI......

I made my first Christmas clothespin and figured out what I wanted to change about it so now I can make the "real" ones and then move on to the "other holiday" ones.....

My goal is to finish these over the weekend and get them postal either Monday or Tuesday...I'll post back when they've been mailed.

It's 90 degrees here in San Diego - we obviously haven't gotten the clue that it's autumn....

Joyce didn't say "enabler" like it was a bad thing. That is what this is all about, sharing and learning from each other and causing trouble.......no no not that. Just helping each other find wonderful things to make and do.
Right Joyce?

You know it

Around here to be called an "enabler" is a badge of honor. An achievement to strive towards.

We love our "enablers".

Let me see how I can enable all of you again......

Oh, that just reminds me, I got an email from Staples store. It seems they are selling the new Windows 8 for $39.99 today only. I'm assuming they're talking about the disc in a box. Does anyone have an opinion on upgrading to 8? I'm currently on Windows 7 and it seems to be serving me well. I'm a dummy when it comes to computer stuff.

Happy Mail Alert from the weekend.

Stamp Wizard - your package has arrived safely.

Sandra - Not only are you an enabler, you're also a pretty nifty paper gal. Really pretty clip you've sent to us to swap I love the multiple papers you used, and the double stamped sentiment. Great job! Thanks for swapping with us.

This afternoon I have been dying clothespins for my Wednesday group. When you are doing 59+ the Rit works really well. Thanks for that hint, Joyce.
I am using Cherry Red, and it is not a pretty bright Christmas red like the ones I made for the swap. But we will just say they are "Old Fashioned Red." Sort of brownish, but I left them a long long time in the dye and they didn't get any redder. I am sure they will be OK. Less trouble than painting then one by one by one.........

They can be Vintage Santas.

Oh yes, VINTAGE. Sort of. But whatever they are, that's it. Anyhow they look pretty good. I wish they had a WHITE dye and we could make some snowmen, but I don't that that is a reality. Paint would be the way to go there.
