That depends on where "there" is. If you mean Alaska - I'm clueless. If you mean KY, then we are prettied up for visitors from April to November, as long as we get decent rain. I guess we have an average amount of mosquitos, but I haven't noticed any great hordes of them this year. We just try to come in about twilight or wear long sleeves to avoid them. I haven't had too much trouble with them myself.

Are you allergic?

Oh no! It's the "G" word!!! Being this far from an actual brick and mortar Graeter's is the PITS!!! I was SOOOOOO happy when they started selling it here (in the expensive little cartons) at our local grocery chain. The BEST chocolate chunks in any ice cream I have ever eaten! (Still, the expensive little cartons are less than having it shipped on dry ice) You are a true Graeter's fanatic when you actually spend an extra night in a motel, because the ice cream store wasn't open when you drove through. (Been there, done that!)

Joyce, have you ever heard of Mom Wilson's Sausage Company in Delaware, Ohio? Referred to in my circle as the Pork Palace. Best pulled pork I've ever eaten. My friend Helen and I used to call in an order, have it frozen, then take turns driving the 3 1/2 hours south from Michigan to pick it up. (Of course, when I was going dancing in Columbus, then it was on the way!) They have many many mouth watering pork products. LOVE Mom Wilson's, too! MMmmm, bacon, pulled pork, Canadian bacon, sausages, ham, the list is endless. Pass the napkins, please?

Good morning!!

Pork Palace?!! *drools* I forgot to tell ya'll that I have a bacon habit as well. I mail order bacon from Benton's every other month and I've recently discovered how amazing my slow cooker is at helping me make pulled pork sandwiches (minus the smoked flavor), so we've been having those at least once a week lately. I may have to convince "the dude" to go a road trip to this Pork Palace.

Best Mom Wilson story (so far)

They are only open from October through Mother's Day. I had stopped by on a dance trip in April one year, and bought a couple of pounds of their (then new) pulled pork. Got home, and tried it with friends. OMG!!! So, had to figure out how to get back and buy more before May closing. I lived in Detroit. I had a dance weekend coming up at Oberlin College in Ohio. Oberlin is nowhere NEAR Delaware. So, I left early that Friday with a HUGE cooler in my back seat, drove 3 1/2 hours south to Mom Wilson's, bought 50 one pound packages of pulled pork (they had it frozen and ready for me). Then I drove 3 1/2 hours north to Oberlin, danced all weekend, kept the cooler full of ice, and then drove home Sunday afternoon, and deposited the pulled pork in our freezers (friends who tasted it wanted some, so I made the big buy).

I have DRIVEN home to Michigan for a visit (from Kansas) only because having the car meant I could drive to Mom Wilson's, get a load of pork products and haul them back to Kansas. And, yeah, I timed that trip so it would be after they opened in October. (And it's two HARD days drive from KS to MI)

Wowsers. I need to get to this place. Google Maps says it's about a 10 hour drive for me. My daughter has been bugging me about going to Cedar Point for awhile now. Perhaps, we could make the trip fun for everyone by stopping through Delaware! I smell a fall road trip!

Hi,

Can you put me down for two spots if you still have them? And just to be sure (and I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered, I buzzed through the posts but may have missed one or two) in this round, we choose whether we make binder clips or clothes pins? If you have the spots, I'll take both in Christmas, otherwise one in each.

Thanks,

Yes, you can make either clothespins or binder clips (or both). You may have as many spots as you would like, we have plenty of room. I'll add you with two spots in Christmas and if you would like more, please let me know. Glad you decided to join us - have fun!

Happy Mail Alert!

venus@home - your package has arrived safely.

Venus, these are lovely! That Santa clip is especially striking. I really like the delicate coloring within the image - he's beautiful. Where did you find those clips too? The ones on the Santa - I've not seen those before - and now I want some! Thanks for swapping with us

I'm glad you liked the clips! I was afraid that I made them too big. Those clip are sold at our local dollar store ...I've never seen them before but if you want some I will gladly send you some...I've been in twice to clean them out and I got a call yesterday that they got more in. Just let me know how many you want and they're yours.

OK, I'm intrigued. What kind of clips are we talking about? Got pictures?

They are bamboo clothes pins that are magnetic..they are about double the width of regular clothes pin but I found the were easier to adhere things to them. I have a sheet of metal that has been framed and they stick to this nicely or you can still use then as regular clips.

Adorable... How did you get the cherry so shiny?

Also, I've been going to ask you this for a long time... what is the picture in your avatar? If you don't want to tell me I understand but then I'm going to keep guessing.

I was working on a swap until I ran out of parts. Now I need a trip to Office Depot before I can finish it. So I fixed myself some lunch, and will be starting a background for my JAMS cards. I would like to get them in the mail this afternoon if I can come up with a background that suits me.

Bee careful - You'll wake up the dust bunnies. They are cranky if they don't get enough sleep.

I didn't find too many dust bunnies, but smears and clutter and such. Lots of doggie nose prints on the glass back door, that kind of thing. And cobwebs. I need to get something with a very long handle to get up into the ceiling. We have those high tray ceilings and as short as I am I can't even stand on the furniture and reach the cobwebs with anything in this house. I just try to keep everyone looking down when they come in.

Yep, that's where I look when I go visiting...at the ceiling for cobwebs. LOL

I don't even look at my own ceilings too often. I probably would notice if they were suddenly missing, but otherwise - not to much attention gets paid.

I tend to notice when the light catches a long strand dangling from the ceiling, otherwise, I do my best NOT to see....

And I'm none too pleased when I move the dreaded bathroom scale (it lies, really, it does, I cannot weigh that much, no sir!) and something scuttles for cover. It's always a spider, and I do not like spiders. Ick.

We have lots of spiders, so therefore lots of cobwebs.
I went to a party at the home of a lady who loved to decorate and always had things just so, spotless, etc. So clean and tidy it made everyone uncomfortable, you know what I am talking about. During the party it got really warm, so one of the ladies decided to turn on the ceiling fan. The hostess was horrified because all sorts of dusties and webbies and stuff flew off that fan and the ceiling and all around the room.
We loved it. NANA NANA BOO BOO!

So, it's the middle of the night. I'm working on my second of four sets of pins and I'm trying to come up with the work to describe the heaps of junk in my craft room. Joyce.. I may have to rename mine a craft cave because each time I head out to the thrift stores or garage sales I find a little more that i can craft with.

On a side note the sides of wooden clothespins can be distracting to the fronts. . . I learned Old English polish does not stay on the little darlings and so I'm back to au natural sides of the little darlings. Is fall a holiday? The set I'm working on now could be a thanksgiving little set but they haven't said much other than... I'm for fall.

Marilyn- I noticed your question about the mosquitos and I would say that Alaska is dark in winter and bright in summer. Cold in winter and mild/warmer in summer. I would let those things be your guide if you're planning a trip. Mosquitos can be swatted, and you can wear bug spray and the little monsters won't ruin your trip. I spent June 20-27th there when I went. LOVED the fact that there was a lot of light to drive and see things. Just adding my two cents...

Yes Marilyn, I think Fall is a holiday I celebrate it more than any other season.

Happy Mail Alert!

nsmac1 - your package has arrived safely. (But you knew that already if you've read the other swap threads. hahaha)

Sabrina has sent us two delightful sets of clips - one with bonus tag (which cracks me up) A festive set for Christmas and a spooky set for Halloween. Nice clips Sabrina!
