Default TLC73 - Smackin' Acetate with a Twist

Today's challenge comes from Lisa/ eliak. She sent me a PM last night, and I think you will agree that this one will be FUN! Thanks so much Lisa!
First check out her AWESOME samples, and then I'll tell you how she did it.
//www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=14383
//www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=14383
//www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=14383
//www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=14383

Pretty cool, huh?
Here's what she wrote:
"I learned the smakin' acetate from VSN at this site //www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=157618
I've really enjoyed playing with this. Then I read about someone useing shelf liner, the bumpy foamy stuff they sell in the store near contact shelf paper. She would use her spots to color on the shelf liner and then stamp on paper. She was trying to imitate the look of the new rough texture wheel. I don't remember who it was otherwise I would credit her. I took this idea and tried it with smakin' acetate.
I colored a piece of plastic, the wrapper from some stickers, with marker and then misted with water. Then I layed a piece of the shelf liner over the marker and then layed it on the paper. You can usually get several impressions with each dip into the marker. The impression left in the marker also looks good on paper and sometimes I combine the two. I tried this with two diffrent kinds of shelf liner, one with large bumps and one with smaller bumps. "
So what she did was this:
Take a piece of acetate or a transparency, scribble on it with markers and then mist it with water. Next, take a piece of shelf liner (that bumpy stuff that is sort of waffle weave) and press it onto the acetate. Pick up the liner and press it (inked side down) onto cardstock. After you are done with the liner, be sure to press a piece of cardstock onto the acetate to soak up the ink and make a cool background (this is the smackin' acetate technique).

As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC73 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

I don't have any shelf paper - but I do have some texture plates (that you can use for dry embossing or clay impressesions). For those that don't have shelf paper, I'm sure you can find something that will work (I think things that have random texture might work best). Now I'm off to go play!

Glad you are back, Beth! Thanks for the challenge. Sounds like fun - and I do have that shelf liner paper! I have been meaning to do the rest of my shelves with it. I guess it is a good thing that I haven't gotten around to it! Now I need the liner to stamp. DH will get a laugh out of that one!

The first and last links are just bad links (they have the ... in them instead of the full address):

They are all in Lisa's gallery. I believe these are the ones:

I'm honored that my technique idea was chosen.
It does get a little messy. I protected my work table when doing this. I did find that the markers I used, Le Plume II, washed right off of my hands. I'm not sure how stampin up markers wash out.

Yay! I havne't got to play for days and days and this sounds fun!! Thanks, too for the great directoins--it's the first time I really understand the Smackin' Acetate technique and then to have the twist on it is going to be terrific! No shelf liner OR bubble wrap here, but I'm sure I can find something comparable...

I knew I saved my leftover bits for a good reason - I just started to play in the challenges awhile ago, then got busy - looks like a good challenge to dive back in. I bet those styrofoam meat trays (some have a diamond pattern, some have small bumps) would work - anyone save any of those?

This was fun - don't know if I'd use it very often, but always fun to learn something new! Thanks, Beth, for an interesting challenge.....with a twist!

Hmmm, sounds interesting. I don't have any shelf liner, but will check around for something else to use. Off to the pool now with the kids--going to be 101 degrees in VA today! UGH! Maybe I can play later.

Fun challenge, Beth! I unearthed a piece of shelf liner from under my keyboard so I could play. Shook out the cookie crumbs, and it was good as new. LOL

Great challenge Beth. I don't have the bumpy shelf liner, but I do have cork shelf liner. I'm going to try that and see how it works. Hope to get something up by this evening.
