I know in our school district ( I'm in Canada) a child must have a medical diagnois before they apply for services, there is a list of acceptable disorders they can act on. My oldest daughter who has a neurodevelopmental disorder fancy word for ASD has little to no funding from the school board, but yet through our social worker it is an acceptable form of autism for their services and funding. I find this all very frusterating to understand.
