TLC32 - Sew! A needle pulling thread.....
This week's challenge is Spirelli Corners. You use thread or cording to create a design in the corners.
Here's my version:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Although the string work looks complicated, it is very simple! Here's what to do:
If you have the SU! toolkit, this is the perfect technique to use the paper piercing tool, the foam mat, the spacing template and the big needle. If not, just use a needle with a big enough eye for your cording, thread, or embroidery floss. About 1/4" from one edge, pierce the paper with 6 holes 1/4" apart. Down the adjoining side, pierce the paper with 6 holes 1/4" apart.
Now you have 6 holes down one side, and 6 holes across the top. Thread the needle with string of choice (about 24") , and tape with regular scotch tape the end to the backside of the layer near the corner. Bring the thread up thru the first hole on the side. Put the needle down through the hole furthest from the corner. Pull the string gently through the holes to prevent tearing. Next bring the needle up from the backside in the next hole down on the side and then from the front of the card in the next hole along the top row. Continue in the manner. Tape the end of the string to the back.
Now you can push the stamped layer under the web of string.
If this does not make sense, please let me know. It is much easier to do than to explain, know what I mean? I can do a visual if needed.
When you upload, please put TLC32 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you need help uploading or posting a link to this thread, check out this link:
http://forums.splitcoaststampers.co...ead.php?t=39488
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Hope I have time to try this. I've been trying most of the techniques but usually a couple of weeks late.

Sew, a Needle pulling thread
I just love this technique, but for the life of me I can't get my sample to upload. The website given for help doesn't come up for me and I need some help. I did several of these last night and they are so easy and pretty. I'm going to use this at my party next week....thanks. Laura

I think what is going on is during the updating going on the only ones that can download or enter the galleries are fan club subscribers. I think that's what I read somewhere. It's only temporary. Hope this helps,

This card combines TLC32 and CC30. Beth, you're right - this technique is easier and more fun than it looks. I'd never have tried this if it hadn't been set as this week's technique challenge.

Here's another that combines TLC32 and CC30. The Spirelli corners were easy and fun but the rest of the card was rather hard work. Hope it was worth it. I'm still trying to decide!!

Here's my contribution. I was very excited about this technique. It looks very cool!! I combined it with the soot stamping tutorial Beate shared.

Keep in mind that even if you are a fan club member, the gallery is going to experience periods of inaccessibility due to the reconstruct. If you aren't a fan club member, the links directly to members galleries' often found in their signature lines will get you to some great artwork..

Those corners are just beautiful!!
How gorgeous!
But I am such a visual learner... and I can't follow where those threads are leading... is there any way you could number those holes? or do a close up perhaps? Oh how I want to learn how to do this technique!
Thank you so much for sharing this marvelous technique!

Additional help on corners.
Ginger and others, I'm going to try to help here.
Holes are numbered 1 thru 6 from corner down the side. Left and right are as if you are looking at the cardstock with the corner pointed up.
Start underneath.
R1 to L6
L5 to R2
R3 to L4
L3 to R4
R5 to L2
L1 to R6
Mine looked different in my gallery cuz I screwed up the punched holes and had to improvise with an additional hole. The instructions I gave above are from the original sample, which would be much easier.

Deba I really like how your holes are further apart and go from corner to corner! I'm going to try that tomorrow!

I just started doing these challenges last week and have a question. Is there a new one every week, every other, etc. I don't always ck the forums, but if I know the schedule I can mark it on my calendar, & know when to ck back for the newest challenge posted.
Thanks for helping.

Beth.........You are the greatest! I had so much fun doing my spirelli corners. Thanks so much for another great idea. I combined with Beate's "soot" technique. It is sooooo much fun stamping again. I love vacations, but did miss my stamping and SCS friends.
