Linn's Thoughts...CONGRATS and Thanks so much, Linn!
I did my first true scrapbook while away for 8 months in Germany in 1996. I spent a lot of time on it, although you wouldnt know it by looking at it! It looks like a mish-mash of brochures, ticket stubs, postcards, and memories! At the time, scrapbooking wasnt big, so I used a package of markers, some happy face stickers, and lots of creative doodling to fill my first book! Im tempted to re-do it, but looking through those pages brings back such great memories of that time in my life, so Ill leave it the way it is and itll help me reminisce about the fun times I had there. And isnt that what scrapbooking should do for us?
Nowadays, my digital camera is my scrapbooking best friend! I take zillions of photos, especially of my two little boys (it takes 100+ shots to get the 5-10 pictures that I love)! Im a bit photo obsessed, so most of my layouts include lots of photos. I pick my color scheme from the photos by figuring out what I want to emphasize in the pictures and using matching SU! Colors. That way the titles can coordinate perfectly. I used to do tons of patterned paper and little bought embellishments, but right now Im enjoying stamping my own paper and embellishments. The only time Ive ever been caught up with my scrapbooking is just before each of my boys was born. I caught up the day before I went into labor with Jake, and a week before being induced with Tyler! Of course, now Im far behind again, but that just means lots of fun pages in my future!
My scrapbooking tips are: Take your own portraits. You can take more shots than they will at a studio, and you dont have to hope that the moment is right for your subject to perform when you get there. I set up a sheet as a backdrop (draped over a chair or a changing table or something) in a sunny spot in the house, and then wait until my boys are in the mood for pictures. I buy cheap sheets at Target to get good backgrounds in different colors, then take hundreds of shots to get that perfect one! Tip #2spend lots of time on your titlesIve learned that the right beautiful title makes the page! Mat your most important photos the most and theyll stand out the most!
I'm planning on trying to get a layout done this week based on the sketches...just have to get 2yo into bed!
I'm so honored to be the scrap diva of the week! In case you didn't check out a layout from my first scrapbook, here it is! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
BTW: Stephanie, our little ones are only 14 days apart!
Great, great, great! Linny does fab work. It will be a challenge for me - I'm real linear, so I'll definately learn something new this week. And I like the Becky Higgins sketches because for a lot of my events I only have a couple of pictures. This will be a great week for scrappin!

Well, this was a real challenge for me. I was determined to finish this layout while my wee ones nap, and this one took me an hour. It's the first time I've ever handwritten then hand-cut a title, and that's my favorite part about the layout. (I did my first letters with a coluzzle for the VSBN challenge, so SCS is really challenging me!) These pictures were also a real challenge as far as finding a color scheme that worked with them and fitting them into the sketch challenge. I'm not thrilled with the result, but it'll do. Have fun everyone!

Thank you, scrampin' ladies of SCS, for lighting a fire under my butt! I haven't worked on my little girl's baby album in ages... she's going on five and there are only three pages in there. Well, now there are 5, thanks to the Scrapbook Challenge and Linny6's diva of the week layout!
Here is my page. It is the second page on the 2 page 12 X 12. The pictures were not a good as I would have liked. They were taken before I got my new digital camera and the old camera was giving me problems that day. They are not perfect but still are precious to me so here they are. OOPs forgot to tell you Elmo and Big Bird are at the top of her actual invitation to the party. The invitation pulls out and I did some journeling on the inside cover of the invitation in my own handwriting Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
OK, I just love this idea of a sketch buffet this week! I actually ended up only choosing one of the sketches, rather than doing a two page layout. Thanks for the sketches! They are GREAT!
Here's my first page. There's so many great sketches I've printed up pics to go with all of them. I also combined the theme challenge with the sketch challenge (thanks to Mary's helpful guide).
Well here's one for the sketch buffet - let's see, it's the bottom right sketch as well. Linny, I think I'm too intimidated by your fabulous scrapbooking to even attempt a case of your pages! I love your pages - all the ones in your gallery are very fun to see.
Using Linny6's page as inspiration I did this DPS. I had more pictures even, but decided it had enough. Gloria needs to do her own layout for her book too, maybe she'll use them all :-D, anyway here it is! Brownie's Bridging
I incoorporated both the theme for this week with the bottom right sketch from the "sketch buffet". I had a little trouble trying to fit my pics "just so" on there, but I think it worked out OK. Thanks for helping me get my pile down some more!;)
I'm a little behnd here, but this is my inspiration challenge layout. The pictures are from 2002, but this layout was perfect for them. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
