Poppin' Pastels uses Versamark and Pastels. Pastels are really just chalk...high quality chalk to be sure, but chalk. So if you don't have pastels in your supply cupboard, try it with some kid chalk.
Ink up your stamp with Versamark. Stamp on cardstock. Lightly touch a sponge dauber, q-tip, or cotton ball into the pastel of your choice. No need to press down hard! In fact, if you press too hard, you will break the chalk piece. It is still usuable, just not so pretty sitting in the tray. After you have the applicator of choice "chalked up", press or dab it over the versamarked image. The chalk will stick to the versamark and your image will magically appear. Some chalk will stick to the cardstock too, but the image will be much more vivid. Depending on the applicator, you can get just the image, or create a kind of halo effect around the image from the excess chalk. Both looks can be fabulous.
