I'm in ~ Looking forward to using my ODB and other faith based stamps I don't get to use too often!
Well - upon further consideration - i'm "organizing" my craft stuff to be 'lifted and draped' for Irma ... who appears to be headed straight for my house! I'll be shipping my stash by the end of the week - will update with tracking number.

Oh this is so nice. My church is taking up extra collections (money) to send to Catholic Charities of Houston. Hopefully I can get to this later this month, I've got a hurricane threatening me now.

Another wonderful cause. I apologize for not participating lately. It's been one thing after another, with the latest being Irma. (We are doing well, Praise God, but it's been an interesting couple of weeks!) I hope you are all doing well. Thank you, Teresa, for keeping this going.
I have a thought for next month's cards for a cause. Many of us would like to use our cardmaking form of giving to bring some kindness to the victims of Harvey and Irma. I'm thinking uplifting cards for those people affected and also cards they could use to thank all of the people who have been helping them. But I don't know who or how this could be organized for those areas. Does anyone know of people who would want cards and would want to pass them out and would have a systematic way to pass them out? i know they need money first, but this could uplift some overwhelmed feelings. Does anyone know a worker from one of the charities or a civilian working with someone from one of the charities (e.g., Red .Cross) who might wantt to take this on? It's like Jennifer McGuire is always reminding us that we can use our cards to spread kindness where it is needed. What do you people think of this idea or ways to improve it or make it work? Thanks.

I agree! I emailed Jennifer about this, too, but haven't heard back.

I have the rest of the year full, but would gladly spotlight into next year(the timing may be better a little later). If someone in those areas organizes it we can surely spotlight them.

I'm not sure if they're in Texas, but Harry Chapin Food Bank is doing a lot of food deliveries to those of us still without the basics - power, running water, etc. I don't know anyone there - but they might be a good resource. Also assisting are - Red Cross, National Guard and a couple of individual churches - but Harry Chapin is cutting across the county lines and delivering to the areas that need the help most - switching day by day where they are delivering. Harry Chapin Food Bank - Welcome to Harry Chapin Food Bank!
In Keeping with the theme this month, of Catholic Charities, and the thoughts of turning efforts to Hurricane victims - here's a list from Florida of contacts through the Catholic Diocese serving greater SW Florida, which was one of the hardest hit areas:
Catholic Diocese of Venice disaster response sites:
Other organizations involved in Florida's Recovery - or even Texas also -
Community Cooperative runs Meals on Wheels, The Soup Kitchen, Mobile Food Pantries and Social Services to assist folks with housing, jobs and other needs. Email [email protected] or go to communitycooperative.com.
Meals on Wheels – contact here
Samaritan's Purse needs volunteers - Sign up here. NOTE: This is Franklin Graham's international Organization, under the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. I know these folks are also very active in Texas!!! This is and i believe still working in New Orleans from Katrina.
United Way is looking for volunteers. Please visit our website here.
Regretfully, I have no contacts in any of these organizations. I had to go back to work last Monday - and am limping through myself without power still....
but i thought I'd share if someone else has the time to reach out...

thank you so much for adding this for those who can and want to reach out. I am filling into the first of next year, if anyone can be the contact person and know how to get cards to organizations or groups, we will surely fit them in next year.

Thank you so much to all of you have sent cards. I have received the most wonderful cards this month. It has been like Christmas filing them into their respective purpose boxes (I have a large filing system I pull from LOL). Your cards have been so pretty, so inspiring, and will be used to lift the spirits of those in need. I really appreciate your generosity to this cause.
After 12 days with no power, and 14 with no internet/cable, we're finally getting back to normal. I got my cards out of the boxes packed for evacuation, and can finally get my labels printed!
24 cards shipping today: 9405 8036 9930 0508 7725 39
Thank you for the sympathy cards also - for some reason I never get around to making those and no one else seems to make them either.
You all have made some very spectacular pieces of art. I'm amazed at the talent. Than you again for donating your time and gift to the charities. It speaks volumes.
I'm mailing 15 cards today for this month's cause.
Also sharing a link to Jennifer McGuire's blog about fundraising for hurricane victims. She notes at the bottom of her post that with everything people are dealing with, sending cards right now might not be a good idea. Crafters For a Cause - Jennifer McGuire Ink

Massive amounts of cards have rolled in this week. Thank you very much for your generous donations to the causes. I am going to prep a couple more boxes to ship out. You all did a fabulous job in making cards for all the occasions.

I just saw your posts and followed the links - Thank You!!
As a heads up for everyone else - all 4 possible donations are currently "out of stock" as of this morning, but do have "notify me..." links on them.
Maybe they'll do one of their Kits for Hurricane Fund Raising!

hi everyone, so sorry I have been MIA...my MIL passed away this past tuesday, this has been a very hard time for us. The whole month of september has been such a journey, lots of hardships followed by God's faithfulness and grace. As hard as it has been it has also been a season of growing, trusting, believing, thanksgiving, and blessings! thank you all so much for chiming in and carrying on without me. I am truly blessed to be apart of this group!
We can all keep our eyes and ears open about helping with the hurricane relief, the best option as of now is the simon boxes. There is also a gofund me page, please do not feel obligated to give in a monetary way if this is something you cannot afford.
The boxes simon says stamp are offering are a great way to give back but receive something as well.....you can get them here...
