Default How do YOU "sign" your cards?

I've been building up a big inventory of cards, but they're not signed, and I'd love to hear what others do to 'sign' their beautiful creations!

I use labels on the back, when I remember. DH usually checks that I've remembered ;-). I got them printed years ago, black print on clear, and also black print on gold to use on darker card bases.

I have a name embosser that I was gifted - believe it came from Staples, but any office supply could order one - and I emboss the outside back of my cards. Unobtrusive but still there.

I have many handmade by stamps that I use on the back of the card. My favorite says "Better than Hallmark!" Then I sign my first name in pen and date back of card.

I do small return address labels with my name and my SCS user name for swaps...otherwise just one of my funny/humorous stamps and sign my name with the year

I used to use a "handmade by" stamp and sign my name, but I stopped because I use every inch of space to write when I send a card. I am a "talkative" writer and needed even that tiny bit of precious paper real estate! (I frequently fill all three blank sides of a card).

I just write on separate sheet of paper and enclose. I can stamp on the paper to make it "fancy"

I do inserts too. Piece of real stationary. Or not.

I have a stamp with my initials I put on the back. I am trying to find a made by that I like.

Labels never occurred to me! That could be an option!

I have a little stamp that I bought years ago when I first started making cards. It says "Handmade By" in simple script writing and has a tiny flower. I still use it on the bottom back of every card I make and sign my first name only, "Annette".

I have a few stamps that I alternate - one is fancier, the others more whimsical - depending on the style of the card.

This first one is from Inkadinkado:

These two are from Unity's "I Consider You Special" sentiment set (on sale right now for $16.00):

I have quite a few that I collected but my favorites are:

For You

Limited Edition 1 of 1

This card was made just for you (circular design)

Then I put my initials DBP and the year.

I've got a number of made by stamps. My favorite is a funky Hand Stamped with a handprint in the middle. I also have a more elegant Hand Crafted by... I either initial or sign the cards and add the year.

I have several "hand stamped by" or "created by" stamps that I use but for some holiday cards I use a small stamps like a heart for Valentine's Day, bunny for Easter, witch or ghost for Halloween, Santa face for Christmas. I sign either my first name or my initials and the year.

Thank you all so much for your input! I do have a few "Made especially for you" or "Hand Stamped" that I wasn't sure of. I love the idea of labels, I think that's an awesome idea, and my DH is pretty adamant that no card should leave the house without some indication that I made it myself.

Thanks again for some terrific ideas!

Thank you Leslie for posting this. I have several special made stamps that I use, but I always struggle when I use a dark card base. I hate using stark white labels. I googled gold foil preprinted labels and found the perfect solution for $10 for 300. I think this will be pretty, and I may even use them all the time.

I have a heart shape that says 'stamped from the heart' and I write my nickname across it. I do that on every card I make. Never thought to date them! That would have been a great idea 14 years ago when I started this addiction... ;)

I really like your stamp a lot, and this really appeals to me. I imagine there are a few places here and there where you can design your own stamp and have it created?

I designed it myself, and had a stamp made at www.rubberstamps.net - they do a beautiful job. I've used them for years.

Mine is sort of a long story, but the short answer is that I have a custom stamp with my own design.

Long answer: my maternal grandparents were both very creative. (I like to think I inherited some of that.) Grandma used to either stitch her name on her embroidery & cross-stitch, or add a note on the back. And Grandpa used to add his name somewhere on all of his wood-works. The hand-made pieces I inherited from them are among my most prized possessions, and those signatures make them all the more special.

Grandpa liked to draw cartoons in his spare time - added them to notes and letters. And he had this way of taking his first name, and turning it into a cartoon face. It was this "signature" that he left on most of his pieces. I have always loved this, and when I started to get serious about card-making, I wanted to do something like that... so I spent years (seriously) trying to turn my name into a cartoon face. My legal name is actually Lynette, but everyone calls me Kitty. I tried both names, middle name, everything I could think of... but I just don't do cartoon faces like him. Then, one day...

... I started doodling my initials - my legal initials, LMS. And it just happened. The L formed the left side of a body, the M became a set of ears, and the S made a perfect tail. I had drawn a "Kitty" using my legal initials. And THAT is how I sign all of my cards - with this logo, either hand-drawn, or using my custom stamp. It honors my grandfather, it acknowledges my "real" name... but to everyone else, it just looks like a cat, which is what people think of, when they think of me.

I like to stamp the back of cards and a lot of the time I try to use something humorous. This Inkadinkado stamp is a favorite.

I have the stamp above & a few others I've collected, but I also have a whole set of these types of stamps from SU, from years ago that I use---signing my name with the month & year. I have been thinking it would be nice to get something different lately. A custom stamp would be SO NICE! ;)

I have ordered a couple of the little round stamps from Paper Angel - you can add your name to the various designs - and they are on sale right now.

And I've got a couple of others from Stampin Place - also customized with my name.

I used to use a little "hand stamped by" stamp and then signed my name. One of my teachers, when I was a first year principal and she a first year teacher, had that whole thing---stamped part and my handwritten name---made into a stamp for me by her parents who ran a printing shop. I never received such a thoughtful and useful gift from such a young person. I have had that stamp replaced 5 times, since I use it on every card and it is not rubber. I really love that I can use any appropriate color ink on any card (then use the same ink to stamp the date using a band stamp like libraries used to use). I really am going to contact the pace Dini uses, especially if they will make me a rubber one. Incidentally, I had the same people make my daughter one (and have replaced it once) as she has begun to make more cards than just Christmas now. I believe all art work should be signed and dated.

I have most of the above. I also have a stamp with "Handmade by (my name)". What I use most are little die cut crabs. This is my sign and my personality. If the card is going to someone who does't know this, I initial the crab.

I have a custom stamp. Many online companies make custom stamps. I prefer a self-inking one but I've had rubber too. If you want rubber Jennifer McGuire recommends an Etsy seller and has a discount code on her website. But just google custom self-inking stamp. I often see them on Groupon too. I have quite a few 'back of card' stamps as I call them including Trademarks by PTI and a great one from Waltzing Mouse (they are closed now). The top stamp in the photo is my most recent one, self-inking (you can get different colour ink pads for it) and the bottom is my favourite one from WM. I only use it on cards given to people I know obviously but I think it's a classy way to say 'please don't toss my creation!'

Take a look at Paper Angel for a made by stamp - they have lots of them they will customize for you. And they are reasonably priced, imo.

I have something similar to your trash can one, only mine says, "Don't even think about it!" Obviously, I only use it with the folks who know me best. For my business, I used Paper Angel and a round stamp with my business name, email address, and "notable cards and gifts" which is the motto for my business on it. I also have a more personal one that is a viney "J" and the words "Made especially for you by Joni" around it, that I use for personal use a lot. Also have one that says something similar for Mom....for my kiddos.

I was taught early on in a class to put "my Hallmark" on my cards and date them. I have several. But I have been stamping for many years now and I wore out my most FAVORITE one. It was an elegant "B"made by Inkadinkado which is out of business now and I can't find a replacement. :(

Oops! I misspoke. I think I got my stamp at a stamp show and I haven't been able to find online. Didn't mean to cause anyone a heartattack
