Like so many of us here at SCS, I have precious friends & loved ones in Florida. My heart is completely heavy with concern for them, and for the citizens across FL. My prayers started with Harvey's devastation in S. TX, and it seems that aside from monetary donations to reputable, long-standing organizations, our hearts & prayerful or positive thoughts are the best we can do for these precious people.
SCS is 'family' to many of us. And as such, I'm going to list member names that I know live in FL. Please feel welcome to add on names in posts below. We can keep these members in our hearts over the next days of winds, storm surges, potential flooding, and the following recovery/rebuilding process.
MiamiKel4 is there but I read on her blog they and their four kids, animals, and mom were getting out. All of those mentioned and the rest in Irma's path are in my prayers.

God speed!, lots of prayers and special thoughts for our Ohana in Florida!! I was going to mention Kelly as well... sure hope and prayer all is safe and in gods hands of protection.Blessings their way!!
Yes, I knew you were, Angie, so you know for sure about her. I had just read on her blog where they were leaving and assumed. I guess that just shows you can't assume anything. Ha Hope her hubby and their house will be fine and the rest of the family, too. I'll be so glad when this is over. My son lives in GA about 2 hours from Jacksonville, FL Hopefully, it won't be too bad there.

I just started going through the RAK list, and there are LOTS of gals in FL and some in the direct path.
HappyinMarco (Diane) lives on Marco Island (very bad place)
naturecoaster (Jean) lives in Brooksville (above Tampa Bay but southeast of Homosassa Springs where they say the storm may make landfall again)
TaffysMom (Adrianne) in Fort Myers (where they may get a direct hit)
nadine529 (Nadine) in Naples (another place they may get a direct hit)
adctd2stamping (Joanne) in Seminole (right on the peninsular above St. Petersburg and below Clearwater - bad area)
suzie q12 (Sue) in Spring Hill (between Tampa and south of Homosassa Springs where they will feel the impact strongly)
FLMommyof2 (Elizabeth) in Tampa
solrbunny (Mimi) in North Port (just above Fort Myers)
Pearlann66 (Nancy) in Pinellas Park (on the peninsula between St. Petersburg and Clearwater (west of Tampa Bay)
CubsFlorida (Janice) in Sarasota
Dpatter285 (Debra) in Fort Myers
Roxystamper (Suleika) in Largo (on the peninsula between just south of Clearwater)
ScrappingCSI (Pam) in Port Charlotte) at the end of the bay just north of Fort Myers and will be at great risk of a storm surge)
love2play63 (Robin) in Lehigh Acres (just east of Fort Myers)
tersa (Terry) in St. Petersburg
Well, this is just a cursory scanning of the RAK list, but I didn't add the many who are in and around Orlando and other more inland areas. However, they will face lots of very high winds and rain. Keeping them all in prayer. Hugs, all! xoxo
BeckyTE and her DH (thankful that he is home with her) evacuated after boarding up their house. She always secures a hotel room inland.
We continue to experience a lot of very high winds, strong rain bands, and tornado watches. The sounds are unsettling to say the least, but we are fine. So thankful that my sister is with her niece and family.
Angie, I'm praying for you and your family and all those in GA. It's amazing how large this storm is and how much it's impacting the entire state all the way across to us. I had no idea how many members we have in FL (and that's just in the RAK list). Love you all dearly!!! xoxo
I was just thinking of HappyInMarco after seeing one of her cards listed in the Favourites thread...I remembered looking up where Marco was when she first started uploading.
Here is something I just posted with my alpha Ohana and would like everyone to know how I truely appreciate everyone of my SCS Ohana. Especially so love souls like you sis Sabrina...and to many to name so I will say to our whole SCS community who always so ready to give of yourself...there is no words!! And it's times like this we sit back and have to reflect and think how lucky we are to have each other and those that go so out of their way to make life a better place to be and Among amazing loving people like our SCS Ohana......
Here is the post and I'd like to say a giant MAHALO to all!!
...Speaking of our Floridian SCS Ohana ... it made me just realize how things in a bat of a eye someone can be here one moment and just gone the next. It really gives the clearest view how we much appreciate what we have to the fullest and to how much value these wonderful sistahs and SCS ladies that give of their time so a simpleton like myself can enjoy challenges like our alphas and such things like the DTGD, VSN and other challenges. Just to think. Sweet gals like Cheryl, Jean, Kittie, who just hosted among others like our alpha sis Bev are all Floridians. To just image the wonderfulness they provided and now they are near such danger of Irma. This makes me appreciate our so loved sis Ann even more when you think of all she does for us and many others as well as our loving SCS Floridian Ohana. Not to forget our SCS Texans for all they just encountered as well as everyone. So I'd like to say mahalo to everyone and let you all know I love all of you the bestest in the whole world!! And I couldn't have picked a better Ohana then all of you as well as the many SCS community and Ohana. Love ya all to the moon and back and kicks to the curb And sends Irma her eviction to vacated Floridia now pronto!!
This really is such a wonderful, caring community! Thanks for thinking of us Floridians. I'm sure my family and I will be fine (we're near Orlando), but Irma is one big, scary storm, so we're taking all of the recommended precautions. My heart breaks for those who are closer to the coast, or in flood zones, or in less substantial housing. It seems almost surreal that there could be a storm this devastating so soon after Harvey.
I've always been more of a "lurker" than a participant - I'm even more quiet in person. (There's a reason for my "handle", LOL.) But I'm really going to try and speak up a bit more here. I can't think of a better place to "belong".
Sending my own good thoughts out to everyone impacted by these storms (and those awful fires up north, too!). Take care everyone!

True that Ms Angie. I read some news article that it's a cat 5 hurricane for right now I have not seen much of the news of any kind other then on here since I'm not home where all the luxuries are. And that Marco island man I saw in a clips on my phone it got hammered bad so yes lost of electric isn't or comes close to their kind of distraction. I live through and experienced both hurricane Iwa and iniki when it hit us. We are pron to get high by a lot of these storms being I. The middle of the ocean. And our time normally starts end sept or starting oct. so I can image all they must be going through just pray they are in gods hands and kept safe and come back to our SCS Ohana. Godspeed to all the Floridians!! And their Ohana all waiting on news it can't be easy on anyone.
Millions of Floridians without power now. Just saw pics of the ruins on the Keys. :( So odd to see blue skies there, with beautiful waters already, yet destruction of house boats & buildings. Yet, I'm very thankful the the wind speeds are/were lower than forecast, and that it did not ravage the entire state in full as was once projected.
Our FL friends still and will need our {{{heartfelt}}} support.
Heather, so happy you are o.k. and happy to see some of those trees still standing.

One more thing, found out that our side of the street didn't lose power. Turns out we are on the same line as the fire station so fortunate for that.
Right now I am on hold trying to reschedule my cancelled flight tomorrow out of Fort Lauderdale. It was booked ages ago, looks like nothing going out again until at least Friday.
Thanks to all of you for your sweet hearts and well wishes. Irma wanted to show she meant business, for sure. We can't get over the size of the storm; because of it, it just seemed to go on forever as it scraped over the whole state. What a long storm!
Pockets in all communities are a total mess and nearly everyone has some sort of damage to deal with, but thankfully the devastation is not like that of TX. Irma didn't linger and therefore didn't leave as much water- Thank God!
My family and I are fine we are even back to enjoying the luxury of electricity and water now. Thanks again everyone!

Bumping for more updates as others (hopefully) get power and a way to connect. Service is spotty everywhere and even getting text messages is difficult.
Hoping more will check in and let us know they're ok...
Glad to see our Floridians check in or answer PMs .....fewwww...still havnt here from Bev aka guneauxdesigns..she normally is active on here and havnt heard from her ...prays she checks in soon godspeed to them all!!
So glad to hear that others are okay, so I guess I should check in, too. We were so so lucky - just lost some screens (and some sleep). I'm so grateful it wasn't worse. (And so grateful to be a part of this caring community!)

Just heard from Jean (naturecoastcrafter) and she and hubby are fine. Eye wall passed right over them but they were fortunate. I am sure it was harrowing, though. Just got their power back on.

I know that as of Tuesday, Sept. 12 a dear friend & member here was still without power just N. of Orlando. The power losses are causing loss of refrigerated foods, not to mention the hardships of no air conditioning in the heat/humidity of FL, no power for those daily basics we all take for granted.
Oh, my precious and dear family at SCS!! You bring tears to my eyes as I check in to let you know I am OK. I thank all of you for your prayers, thoughtfulness, and caring. I give all the praise to my Heavenly Father who saved my family's lives and mine. We had some damage, which we are cleaning up today, but we were spared! What a frightening even Irma was, and it is something I pray I never have to endure again! God bless all or you, precious ones!!
Bev, it is soooooooo wonderful to see you report in. Take care, be careful as you clean around your property and so happy you now have power. So thrilled to hear you and your family are o.k.

We got out just in time - the storm made landfall basically in my yard on Big Pine - and got up to Kissimmee where we found lodging. Tomorrow they will officially let everyone back, but we will wait a week or so until things in the landfall area have improved. As for our house - we were able to see our roof on the NOAA imagery and hope the fact that it looks pretty good means everything underneath is also good. Mr. Wonderful no doubt lost his shop in the surge, so that sucks, but unless the surge was over 10 feet in our area, the inside of the house should be intact since we are in a stilt house. I've let myself think so, enough to be fretting about what the 95 degree heat is doing to everything in my shut and shuttered and broilingly hot studio. I may return to find lots of stuff ruined. If I am that lucky - house intact but stamps melted onto panels - I won't complain. Just go online and start shopping. ;)
Rachelrose, so happy to know you and family are o.k....except for wondering about hubby's shop, your stamps, and inside your house. I am pulling for you.

Robin my friend I am so glad you checked in!!!!! I've been worried about you since I could see that Big Pine Key was pretty much the bullseye of the storm. How funny to be able to see the roof of your house on the imagery. Keeping my fingers crossed that things aren't too bad on the inside. Check in occasionally when you can and let us know how you're doing. So happy to hear from you....hugs...
