Default Are you cleaning up...

...and purging some of what's in your craft room?

I am, and I am donating it to a summer camp project.

This camp is with a LARGE group of children from an orphanage in Moldova. Yes, that's eastern Europe, and one of the poorest countries in the world. We are sharing skills the girls (age 8-14) could use to make money (in addition to the many other things they do...it's amazing!) Our trip is in 4 weeks and I'm helping with some designs for the older group of girls.

If you have stamps (on wood or unmounted, since I plan to buy some blocks), or some ink pads (colors and well-inked) to add to the small amount we have, I would love to add them to the supply that will go to camp. If you have other stuff, let me know, we might be able to use some of that too.

If you would like to share, I would be eternally grateful! Please PM me for my address. I would need to have everything here by between the 15th and 20th.

Thanks ever so much!

It was suggested that I give more detailed info:

Stamps...don't overwhelm me with sets. Some practical floral, trees, leaves would be good. Some animals or birds would be good too. Something Christmas would be good too. But space (and weight) is definitely limited. I must say that it is tempting to eliminate the boxes, but they are great storage for them. I have empty SU clamshell boxes to send over so if you have wood in boxes, then send however is best for you.

Stamp pads...my preference would be something other than the new SU pads, because kiddos sometimes struggle with opening them, and we're leaving everything with them to continue their creativity. Flip-top or lift-off lids are probably better. Dye inks only. They need to be well inked, but we will not be taking refill bottles. Not good on a plane, even checked luggage. Don't want accidents to happen.

Decorative paper...because of weight, this would be limited. Some basics would be good. Stripes, dots, etc. Not overwhelming patterns in odd colors. But I never know what will draw their eye.

Embossing folders...if you think these can be done successfully without a machine, then yes. I would be glad to donate my old sizzix machine, but it weighs a ton. Don't know if that will work or not.

Dies...probably not.

We're taking watercolors and markers and colored pencils. Watercolor paper, white cardstock card bases for sure, some pre-embossed quarter sheets. Some colored paper and a bunch of diecut pieces for some easy-to-make cards for the youngest girls. We're going to be printing out sheets of greetings in their language. I plan on buying some memento inks to stamp the outline images that they can color. We're still planning, so there may be other things as we get further along.

I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are going to do this-like a dedicated check in suitcase? That would cost money right? I would be happy to contribute to that too.

Thanks for the additional info. That helps direct me-

I was just starting to look at 6 x 6 paper. I can cut down 12 x 12 for you if 6 x 6 is easier? Solid colors-you want postcards or pre-cut card bases? I have some already made.

Pre-embossed-I assume you want basics like swiss dots, stripes, etc?

What about embellies? Girls like bling! Self stick rhinestones, ribbon, stickers, etc?

Sequins? Flowers? I dont know what the glue story is.

I am not sure how much I can do-not a lot of time for my universe but I will try! Some of this is just pull so that will be fast.

I think this is so cool you are doing this!

We've been collecting suitcases for checking. Believe it or not, there's a LOT of suitcases, and a LOT of stuff going over. Cards aren't the only project, needless to say. And our extra luggage cost is basically already paid for.

For the pre-embossed sheets...I have a gazillion embossing folders, so I already have that going on. Patterned paper...if we can keep that down to a small amount for now, that would be great. Basics are best to start with. 6x6 is probably easier to pack. I can fit that in some plastic boxes to protect it.

Glue. One of the other card-designing people who's helping design for the younger kids always uses glue sticks. She has no problem with them. I don't like them myself. But it is definitely practical. And probably the wisest choice for kids. I know my granddaughters go crazy with glue (you know, the "if a little bit is good, a lot is better" thing kids have). I don't know what to say.

Embellies...I think that's probably not good right now. I want to see what they do with what they have first. Then we can decide later to either mail some more stuff over, or send it with the next group to go. We usually send a team a couple of times a year.

Since you're printing out sentiments/sayings in their language does that mean there's really no need for them in English? Just stick with the types of images you mentioned?

What about a paper trimmer? This one is bulkier than the Fiskar ones, but it never needs replacement blades. https://www.scrapbook.com/store/mm-29039

What about envelopes?

When you say colored paper, do you mean decent weight cardstock for card bases? Could you use some SU CS? Or too weighty and bulky?

Envelopes...wasn't thinking of them, but I can get them at a very reasonable price at my local paper store.

Glue...We have some people from church who are helping out with that.

Colored paper...yes, cardstock. Whatever we would use on cards.

Paper trimmer. It would be really nice to take one with us. But it wasn't high on our list because of price.

Sentiments...English is not too useful. While English is a second language, not many "ordinary" people use it.

If you've got the room for the paper trimmer, I'll be happy to send you one. Like I said, it doesn't need refill cutting blades so should last a long, long time.

Next time I write a response, I promise not to use my cellphone to do it - auto correct didn't quite capture what I was truly trying to say :-)

I have the stamp pads and lots of fabulous colored cardstock boxed up and ready to send to you. If you want one, I also have a spare big shot that I'm about to recycle. if you can send me your shipping address, I'll get the cardstock and inks shipped out to you.

As for the trimmers. I talked to both of the people who are packing the suitcases. They say they will make room for them.

So...I will say yes, as long as you are willing to ship it!

I'm overwhelmed at everyone's generosity!

Oh, that autocorrect! One of my daughters is a Jessica and I can't ever shorten it to Jess without autocorrect thinking that I want to talk to Jesus...

It also changes "you're welcome" to "you're artichoke", which I've been known to send, regardless, because it amuses me greatly...

Sorry for the hijack, but I couldn't resist. ;)

Still adding things to the box - it'll go postal by the end of the week...

Ok can't resist on the autocorrect... last summer my aunt was selling a few things including a small dorm size refrigerator - so she was texting me about it and tried to shorten to baby fridge... it changed it to baby frightened!! We laughed hysterically... there will be no frightened babies and certainly not for sale!! LOL.
