How do I remove EZ Mount?

I recently bought some second-hand rubber stamps. The previous owner had put ez mount on the backs of the stamps - however, it is cut very unevenly around the edges so when I stamp them out bits of the edge are missing. I want to remove the ez mount and get back to bare rubber - does anyone know how I can do this?

Stick them in the freezer for a few minutes, then carefully peel it off. Done! Caution, though: if the rubber is dry and brittle, then DON'T put them in the freezer - you'll risk breaking them. I've NEVER had that happen, but I've read where it can...

With/without the freezer, though, you can just peel the rubber from the EZ mount. If there is glue residue, you can generally roll it off with your thumb.

Thank you gregzgurl. The rubber is in good condition so I will put them in the freezer. I tried peeling/pulling/rolling off the EZ mount but it's well and truly stuck!

Don't be tempted to use 'glue remover' products on any residue, most of them contain oil of one sort or another, and oil and rubber are a bad combination.
Usually, if you can just get an edge started, it will peel away. I often found that using a sharp bladed knife like a scalpel, on edge, so it's flat to the rubber, can get you started.
Sue, I have a few stamps that did stubbornly refuse to peel, so I'm going to give that a try.

Thank you for the info about glue removers. I did use some 'stick away' by Crafters Companion on some Hero Arts stamps that I removed from their blocks. The stamps peeled off really easily but the super sticky gunk refused to budge and the more I tried, the more of a mess I ended up in. I hope the 'stick away' hasn't harmed them as they are among my favourite stamps! On the whole I haven't had any problems taking stamps off wooden blocks, most of them have been very obliging. This EZ mount has got me stumped though, starting off with a scalpel is a very good idea. I will try the freezer first, only because it isn't sharp - if that doesn't work I will try a blade. I'll report how I get on.

To remove the rubber image or the foam cushion glued to the wood, heat your stamp for 30-60 seconds in your microwave to soften the adhesive. Use a hot pad to remove them from the microwave.

The microwave does make the glue release, but I've had significant sticky residue with this method. The freezer trick was a godsend for me from whoever suggested it - cleaner by far! The microwave does work, though...
