Hi, I am very new to card makin, only 2 months and yesterday was the first time that I have posted showing other people, only my family or friends had seen them. The help that I need and would be most grateful of your suggestions is:
How do I take pictures of my cards so they can be seen correctly when posted, I do not have any photography equipment, as I had to give up work due to ill health and my funds are very limited. Everything I have to use for my cards and craft I have purchased 2nd Hand. So I only have my phone. Any help you could give me would be most appreciated.
Hi Deborah - I frequently use my phone too - the key is really, really good lighting. The best lighting is sunlight - I take my cards into the backyard and the lighting is usually perfect - although I see from your location you might not have as many sunny days as I do. Indoors try to have some lamps pointed at your card in the brightest spot in your house. Use an app like PicMonkey to adjust and brighten the photo: https://www.picmonkey.com/mobile-app
Thank you Lydia I do not have many sunny days as you have mentioned and I live on the third floor so going up nd down the stairs is not good, but I think if I use my spot lamps I have as you said that might help and I will look into picmonkey, not used it before, but when I worked I ran an IT dept. so I should be able to pick up it well enough.
Another hint is to use a flower holder to stand your card in it. It is called a "frog" (I don't know why) it is usually circular and have spikes sticking out of it to impale the flower stems and hold them upright. The card fits in between the spikes. I found mine at a garage sale and I think I paid 50 cents for it.
I'm also UK,Deborah, and I picked up a small canvas & Easel from The Works, I think it cost me about �1,50. They do a mini version, but the next size up is ideal to stand your cards on to get a good picture. I'd suggest putting some white paper underneath the card to photograph, it will help reflect the light a little. Do you have anything like a daylight lamp you could also use to throw some light? Maybe stood on an easel, close to a window would work too.
I take a picture with my phone and my phone let's me crop the picture. Then I upload the cropped picture directly from the phone. I don't use any other program. I have a Motorola android phone.
I use a cheap acrylic photo frame placed on its back to give my cards a nice angle for their photo. The angle eliminates the shadows that I get when I place it flat on my table. I usually place some sort of cloth over it to give a nice background.
I have a photo of the thing, but it won't allow a newbie to post one ...sigh...it's one of those that is all clear that you slip the photo into. It has a a foot that it leans back onto.

My Mama taught me that I could do anything, and I might just be caught doing it, too.
I started noticing photographs taken with the card lying flat on the table. This avoids shadows. I just need to get some interesting background paper now.
