Happy Sunday! I want to organize just my sentiments somewhere, and was thinking about Evernote. I have all my stamp sets together, and would like to keep them that way, but if I want to find all my choices for the word "birthday", how is the easiest way to go about this? I have a notebook with pictures of all the sets (organized by SU, PTI, Altenew, etc.) and all my stamps have been organized with KWerner's system of clear plastic envelopes. Is Evernote my best bet? Any ideas you have are appreciated.
Evernote is perfect for this. It actually has OCR recognition meaning that the software can 'read the words' if the font isnt too wonky. So even if you dont add the tag for 'happy birthday' if its in the set, it will know its there and when you search for those words it will populate!
I would setup Evernote just like you have your stamps organized. If you still have all those pictures electronically, simply upload to evernote. If not, you can find a lot online and can be drag/drop into Eventoe. You can create "tags" (which are the key words that you search by) or I simply type the words in the set and add my own key words under the photo.
I think the hardest part is identifying possible tags for each stamp set.
You can search for Evernote in SCS and find a lot of threads on how to use/setup.
To all of you that responded....thank-you for taking the time to share. I am going to check out Airtable, and then decide how I want to proceed. Looks like with either one, I will have some work to do, but hopefully organizing will save me some time in the long run. Thanks.
This is how I organized sentiments from my stamp sets:
I put it as a tag!
In the tag, I write:
Saying: This is an example of the tag informataion I want to use
It includes the ENTIRE saying. The tag space is unlimited, or so far it is. As long as I preface a saying as "Saying:" I have had no problem finding what I want.
In the note itself, I will take a picture of the stamp set, click to the LEFT of the saved picture, then hit the ENTER key about 3 times. Scroll up to the top of the note (which now has 3 blank lines for me to type that is going to be in between the description and the picture.) I will list how many stamps there are, if it coordinates with a die set, and location of the stamp set.
Hope this helps. I downloaded Evernote for my phone and for my Kindle tablet. I don't have it on my computer...it was suggested somewhere that if I take it off the computer, I can just log into the website from the computer and work from there. THAT made sense to me, so that's wh at I'm doing.
Thanks so much, Jannarama, for the detailed directions. I am sure the reasons for all the crazy ideas (like, press return three times, etc.) will make sense when I get to that point. I think I can always follow directions....we'll see. Anyway, thanks so much. Cannot wait to try this!
