Art is amazingly expressive, and I enjoy finding artists who add their own special twist. In this weeks inspiration challenge I'd like to introduce you to the Tea Bag Art Pinterest Board by the artist Ruby Silvious. She got inspired somehow to reuse tea bags, and to create art with them! I also have her book "365 Days of Tea" (which you can purchase on Amazon.com). It is filled with so much amazing inspiration that I have already done a dozen cards inspired by her ingenuity. This week was the first time I decided not to stamp on the tea bag though. It is really a lot of fun to stamp on a used tea bag though! Tip: It works best when it's dry, so if you're impatient then use a hair dryer on low heat. I am sure you will also be inspired to create something that will express your artistic talents too! Have fun with it, use your tea bag a second time and then frame it!
Challenge Goals:
Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because an image on the board reminds you of it. Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow based on your impressions when you look through the images. Remember, it can just be the color palette or style that ignites your creativity. Whatever draws you to the designs, take the challenge of doing something uniquely inspired today.
Please remember that all inspiration links should be inspired by images from the Tea Bag Art Pinterest Board by the artist Ruby Silvious. I'm planning to post at least 5 inspiration genius awards too! (You gals have been so amazing that some weeks I have to pin more than 10 of your designs!)
Use the keyword: IC589 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words.
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many images to choose from, I've uploaded 10 of my favorites below. So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS. Don't forget to let us know which photo served as your inspiration piece please.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
oh how seriously neat is that?!?!
Ack! I only really drink bagged tea when I'm sick.
hmmm, maybe I can talk hubs into drinking some so I can have the used filters lol...
betcha you could do something just as interesting with dried used coffee fliters too
(bigger piece too) hmmm
Went with a neutral palette for my card, adding some mossy green ribbon for my green teabag. Added a scalloped dc topper for fun. Here's A Cup of Cheer

Had fun using a reverse dc leaf, a snippet of a brown bag, and an image of a tree for my mixed media card, adding some tree branch pieces in my sheer green tea bag. Here's Green Tea Tree

Wow! That was fun! I drove my DH crazy running around the kitchen looking for, boiling, and dumping out teabags until I got one I liked, lol. Thanks for this challenge.
I've got to find time today to do this challenge! I love what everyone has done with tea bags. I have many that I've rinsed and dryed so that maybe someday they could be used for something crafty, now if they can be found. Thanks for this exciting challenge!
Audrie- what an awesome site, thank you for this inspiration! I went with a woodsy background, inspired by thisSanta Fe Book Arts Group creation- and added a green tea wrapper, along with my own stamped tea bag and colorful string. Added a sentiment and called it good! Here's You Are Tea-rrific

What a great challenge. Several months ago, I came across a mixed media artist who was making art with used tea bags, so I began saving them. Just needed a push to try something. Thanks.
Had fun making my "ghostly ship" with some "sea spray"- added some faux stitching- my card was inspired by this colorful boat- used some bright colors to mimic sea colors- finished with a handwritten greeting for this week's thursday challenge. Here's Smooth Sailing

Anita - I didn't think of using coffee filters! I'm rather disappointed with the tea bags I have on hand, they don't seem to hold the color of the tea very well as others I've had in the past. A coffee filter is the perfect solution! Thanks for that inspiration!
So sorry that I didn't exactly follow the rules for this IC. I took my inspiration from being so far behind on the 2017 CCC and made a Christmas card.
Here is what I came up with A Ducky Christmas OH and I don't have spray adhesive so the tape runner shows through the bag, more so in the picture than in real life.
I believe I love tea bag art! I'm definitely going to make more.
