Does anyone store other branded inks in a Stampin' Up Color Caddy? I have Ranger Archival, Adirondack, VersaFine ink pads etc and wondered if they fit properly and easily in the Color Caddy? I'm looking for a new storage system for my studio and thought this may work.
I just tried, staz on, versa fine, encore, memento, hero arts and they all will fit in the center. Its just not a snug fit like the SU inks and you'd have to label the inks on the ends because they go in by the short width. They're all to long to fit length wise. I don't think I'd use it for other inks, but its a matter of choice.
I have two Color Caddy's (thank you yard sales). And use one just for my Stampin Up Inks, and the other for these: Brilliance Pearlescents (BP), Fresh Ink (FI), VersaMagic Chalk (VM-C), VersaColor pigment (VM-P) and my Encore metallics (EM). They all fit great. I just used my labeler putting the company name as listed in the parenthesis, and the color name on the label. Shortening the names or the colors won't fit on the narrow end of the ink pad lid, so you can see them. I also labeled on the storage bowl on top of each column. Works great, and doesn't take up a bunch of "real estate" like some of the wooden organizers being built today. If you have room (desk top or wall space) they are great, but I don't so vertical storage is best for me. I do also have a wall mounted old cassette tape unit used for one of a kind or odd inks. It's so nice when you finally find what works for you and your space.
I wish I could find yard sales like that! I paid full price for mine. I too love it, but I have all SU inks in mine, but you are right. Those other inks fit. Just label them as it best suits your needs.
