Default Hi! I'm new here.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am so glad I found this forum. I'm Beth and live in Raleigh, NC. I'm fairly new to card making. I started about 2 years ago, and I love it!

I'm looking forward to "meeting" new people here.

Hi Beth! I'm Beth too; if you look to the north, I'm your neighbor in Virginia, not far from DC and MD. Welcome to a wonderful forum!

Hi Beth!

Like you, I'm fairly new at cardmaking, too. It's so much fun, I wish I'd learned about it years ago.

Hi Tigerlily, bjeans and Dorie,

Thank you all so much, for the kind and warm welcome! I'm thrilled I found this place. I've been using YouTube for inspiration and it's been great. All of my cards I made, I did get my ideas from the videos there. But it's also nice to actually have a place where we can "talk" to each other, get ideas, offer help or suggestions or just talk about our latest card! :-)

If I had not found this forum, I'm 100% CERTAIN that my dies which I just got 2 weeks ago, would still be listed. Because I got some wonderful, very helpful advice (on a thread I started here), I was able to get my chads to cut from the inside of the letters. Those chads can DRIVE SOMEONE CRAZY! HAHAHAHA!

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but I did want to thank y'all for the super warm welcome. Have a great weekend.

I saw your die post and the responses. Typical SCS: generous hearted people always willing to help... and to enable (aka cause people to need to buy something they had never heard of before). ;)

bjeans, you are so right about that! I've watched (by now) probably hundreds of vidoes and end up thinking, "I NEED THAT" and of course, it is so easy to order online - just a few clicks and BAM, you're done! ;-)

Me too, compared to many here who have been paper crafting for ages. : )

bjeans, a couple of years ago, a friend was having a birthday. I went to the store to buy her a card. The prices were ridiculous as they always had been, but they were even higher! One card was $9.00! It was actually that day, that I decided to try to make my own card. And being totally oblivious to anything card making, I went home and got on youtube.

When I saw the cuddlebug and the dies and all the other card stuff, I thought, NO WAY! That is ridiculous. LOL I wasn't about to buy all that "mess." I just wanted to fold a piece of paper and stick a sticker or two on it. And I did just that, for about a week.

And now, as they say..................The rest is history!

As I watch these videos, these folks have been such a help to me and others. And so I get my ideas, every single card I make, from those videos. I remind myself, when I mess up or get frustrated, that these folks who are in essence, teaching me (and everyone else), were once beginners too.

Look, I wrote another book! Hahaha! :-)

You bet, and they have self doubt too - even the best ones. One of my faves talks about it sometimes. Plus a lot of editing may go into videos, and what looks like smooth sailing could have taken hours of figuring out and paper filed in the circular file aka garbage can.

Early on an instructor at an LSS told me, "And you haven't even gotten into die cutting yet!" I told her I didn't think I'd be interested, and remember her lifting her eyebrows in a "we'll see" expression. One Cuttlebug, plates, metal shim plate, rubber mat, cutting release paper, and many dies later - well, you know.

BTW, someone may have mentioned this, but in case not, if there's just one area of your die that isn't cutting well, a shim can be placed just in that area. If our shim covers the entire die, we're not filling in the potholes on the road, if that makes sense.
