98 regular, 10 border, 7 smaller, and 35 very small (Also 2 DIY plates a la Mel - see her blog HERE). Do I want more? Not unless it's significantly different from what I already have and/or it's amazing. Do I use them? Not nearly as often as I used to, but that's true of EVERYTHING in my studio! Life has been...interesting...this past year, and I'm not nearly as prolific as I used to be. I'm hoping to change that in 2017 if I don't manage it during this holiday season...
82 and a bunch of little ones and some hard embossing plates (pre folders) but I truly foresee no more new embossing folders in my future. This is the first time I have ever counted them.
I have 117 full sized folders and just this week got sick of shuffling through them to find what I wanted. So now I have them organized them into themes and put dividers between them. Wish I had done it long ago. It has saved me so much time already.
I will add more if I see some that I love because I do use them a lot.
Allee's, I've just done exactly the same thing. Really hoping I will use them more now that it doesn't take an ice age to find them. I've also made an imprint of each one, and stuck them to spare cardstock, and stored them in an A4 binder. Just had to count them-104 folders, 1 set of de-bossing folders from TH, and I know there are 3 more that I've had free with magazines that I haven't done a sample for yet!
I have folders from Cutlebug, X-Cut, Quickutz,Crafters Companion,Tim Holtz, Darice- and a lot more besides, lol. Like GregzGurl, I try not to buy anything too similar to what I already have.
Bonus, while just counting at my samples, I discovered I have one for a Snow Globe! I'd forgotten about that one.
One other thing regarding finding embossing folders: I put a sample in the same index and in the same categories as my stamps (samples of dies and punches, as well) so I would remember them better. If I'm looking at the flower stamps and I see the dies, punches and embossing folders at the same time, I'm more likely to use everything that I have. My index is trading card pages, so the samples of embossing folders and dies are (obviously) not to size, but it's enough to trigger my memory, ya know?
I have weeded mine down to about 5 or 6 because I like Papertrey's impression plates much better.

I probably have about 30 or so, but usually end up using just a few of them over and over. I especially love D'Vine Swirl, which is the first embossing folder I ever bought. I also use Swiss Dots a bunch.
I'm that way about my clothes, too. My closet is full, but I tend to wear a few favorites over and over in rotation.

These were my first too! I still use Swiss Dots. I haven't used DS in years! I still like it tho!

89-A2, 9-A6, Borders-16, what I call "tiny spots, or for "inchies" about 15 or so. LOVE my embossing folders almost more than my dies. Well maybe it's a tie-use them all the time. And like Allee's, have them organized with dividers.
Yep, bugga. The swirl gets used most times. Way, way back when Cricut was doing their Rewards program I got a a set of embossing folders with an Japanese lady in it and another with lanterns. There was one that had (what I term as) a cloud design. I finally used the cloud design to make scales on my Julie Nutting mermaid
I'm an embossing folder junkie - I have over 130 A2 or larger folders, as well as a much smaller collection of border and smaller folders. Every time I get a new folder, I make a 2"x2" sample and adhere it to a page of samples I store in a binder. I then assign a number, and write the number on the folder and next to the sample in a binder. When I want a folder, I flip through my pages of samples in my binder (20 samples per page) see the number of the folder I want to use, then go to my drawer and pull out that folder. This system makes it very easy for me to finder the folder I want when I want it - which helps me justify my addiction!
i probably have about 40 or so....some of you are so super organized with the examples and binders and all....wow
I am not that organized, but when i get a new folder, i make about 4 (a2 size) in neutral colors....and i have those all ready to go in a box...
when i want an embossed top mat -- i just pick one from my stash of ready to go...it works for me...
Oh my word ... I decided to count them ... 231 and that's not counting the border and very small ones. As my four year old great niece says sometimes, "Holy cow buckets!" But the good news is, I use them ... almost all of them.
I've got over 100 normal size and not sure of the smaller and border ones... and just got 2 more as a freebie from a magazine. I'm addicted them! Some have never even been used!
I have way too many - 196 A2 and larger; 11 borders and 17 very small embossing folders. I finally used lots of them on my Thanksgiving cards and some on my Christmas cards. I need to go through them and purge and only keep the ones I really love. I bought so many when I got my first die cut machine and the Sizzix embossing folders came 2 to a set so I got a bunch of folders that I wasn't crazy about.

How do you have them divided/organized?

I've got so many stamping supplies, I sometimes forget to use things. If I'm coloring an image, matching it to my designer paper (to use that up), I forget about the numerous embossing folders and techniques I could use with those! So many possibilities, and it get overwhelming or I get in a hurry and just want to get my card done!!!
I haven't counted mine yet, but just reorganized my dies (thin) and embossing folders this weekend. I sorted them into categories, and put them with my stamps in the same bins filed in the same section.
Now I hope to get my stuff all organized into Evernote, so that I know what I have.
I'm pretty sure I have too many. I came across a set of 2 folders that I had a double of. Oopps!! I REALLY liked them, huh!! Those went into the neverending pile to list for sale.

Like my three Worn Lipsticks and Peacock Feathers (Distress inks!), before finally downloading and filling in the PDF chart. You do get confirmation of what you like!
I only have 27 (28?) embossing folders, which includes 4 tiny embossing squares and five I picked up recently at a JoAnn's 5-for-$10 sale.
I don't use them, but figure I'll get the embossing folder itch one day. It's like chapters: the embossing powder era, the watercolored background era, the chop-everything-up era...
A few cardmakers influence me, so when Laura Bassen (Doublestick Heaven/Laura Fadora) does some mag card using an EF, that could jump start me. Monkey see monkey do.
recently sorted mine after collecting them all in one place. 70 A2, 8 5x7, 11 border folders. I made a sample of all of them. It made it easier to decide which ones I wanted to keep and which one to purge. roughly 2 dozen went in the box to sell.

I must be in the embossing era as I use a folder on every card!
I clearly need an intervention on embossing folders! I have indexed both EFs and dies in Evernote to keep from buying duplicates. I don't need anymore of anything, but that doesn't seem to stop me if I see something marvelous! I use them sporadically, it depends on what the design calls for. I find that having them indexed helps me find what I need quickly and has me using them more often.
Full size folders 138
Full size plates 48
Small folders 18
Borders 37
I have mine organized by theme---dots/circles, squares/diamonds, stripes, stars/hearts, lattice/mosaic, texture, fiber/weaves, swirls/flourishes, botanicals, borders, insets. In total I have 76 A-2 or larger (more designs than that as several of those are M-bossibilities which are double-sided), 4 border sets, 8 small square sets and 5 texture plates. I recently purged, but since I counted, I think I had better do another purge as I have more than I need.
I have about 80...77 according to my Evernote folder. But some of the entries have about 3 or 4 individual folders, so I'm guessing 80. I photographed them with dark green cardstock in the middle, to highlight the folder design.
Wow - it's amazing how many of you have such a large number of folders. I stopped buying them a couple of years ago because I use the same ones over and over. I have:
9 8x8
54 regular
2 small
I store mine in a fabric covered shoe box with cardstock dividers by category (leaves, flowers, critters, etc.) and each category has a divider in front of the die with a sample of die attached to the divider. I just flip through to find what I want.
I have 117 of them and I am currently weeding them out as there are so many and my tastes have changed...and a lot of them were impulse purchases...and I am hoping to sell them.

It is about the only thing in my craft room that I don't have that many of! I haven't filled my Cuttlebug embossing folder storage folder! Embossing folders are just not something I automatically reach for when crafting, which is odd since I like the effect. I may need to move the folder closer to my crafting table to prompt me to use them.
I was never that crazy about collecting embossing folders... until those new super 3d ones started coming out from we r memory keepers & stampin up! Now I'm totally hooked and must have all of the embossing folders lol
