Can you believe we've had more than 200 of these challenges? Time flies!
Today I want you to head to the kitchen, where so many of us spend time during the holidays, and grab some cling wrap.
Then you will add a water-based medium to the cling wrap - this can be watercolor, Distress ink or stains, dye inks spritzed with water - until you have wet pigment on the cling wrap.
I used a powdered product that I spritzed with a shimmery mist.
Lay a piece of watercolor paper onto the wet cling wrap and then flip it over, and scrunch up the cling wrap. Leave this to dry naturally.
That's your base - and the only other rule is that you have to use two or more mediums on your project - I used a homemade shimmer mist and powdered watercolor.
Mixed media can be easy, fun and CLEAN if you like. Cut up your background with a die or punch, or use as a card background - just have fun and play!
Here's a quick video of my process: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YjQ5fqTXnGY?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'll have to try your technique again since your samples are stellar.....mine, not so much. : ( But I have another gift card presentation made and the recipient will never know. Thanks.
I actually have two or three pieces already done from a few months ago, I saw in shown a craft mag but then ran out of ideas how to use them, I'll dig them out tomorrow
Love this technique Lydia. I really wanted to play today but had a million things to do...but this technique is so easy to do and the card design doesn't have to be too complicated as the background is the real star. Luckily I got my picture taken before the sun went down...in about 5 minutes..when do the days start getting longer??
I thought this would be super easy but my first 4 attempts at this bg were utter FAILS. I did finally manage to get one that I like and got my card put together then couldn't get a pic with true colors so posting the best one and will try for a better photo tomorrow in the daylight! Here is the fruit of my afternoon's labor -
Thanks for the fun challenge! I actually made two attempts. The first one turned out too light but I am going to use it for something soon! LOVE my second attempt. Was so happy I had shimmer spray, made it easy peasy!
Finally finished my card, I've had the background for months as I saw this in a craft magazine but then couldn't think what to do with it, story of my life, LOL
