If you're like me then I know you have a lot of "leftovers" in your craft room. These are the little scraps, that tiny embossed flower, or the alcohol ink background that you spent so much time on that just didn't turn out like you wanted it to. Well it's time to put some of these to use. For inspiration today I want you to visit the blog of Godlieve Tijskens aka StampingMathilda. She is a genius with mixed media, watercolors, distress inks, well just about anything related to art and stamping. For our challenge today have a look at her blog feature called Sunday Scraps. For this she takes those odd ball leftovers and creates magic! I love to see what she comes up with.
Challenge: Make a card or project using your scraps a la StampingMathilda.
Remember to use at least two or more different mediums on your project. See this post for some ideas. Also make sure to put MIX197 in the keyword section. And if you remember, take a picture of the scraps you started with...it would be fun to see how the magic started!
Great challenge Pol and thanks for introducing me to Stamping Mathilda - I even have some of those Darkroom Door stamps...woohoo. I am away for a few days, but I can't wait to play.

I love it! Some of my favorite backgrounds are made from strips of scrap paper on my desk. Can't wait to play.
I learned that trick from you and I love to do it too. Using up leftovers is one of my favorite things not only in stamping but IRL with our food! Good training for Thanksgiving coming up.
I save way too much of my rejects...it will be fun, but I will be takin' trips down card creation memory lane as well! Come find me if I am gone too long. Smile

Polly, you truly bring us some super creative challenges when you are the hostess. Thanks. I have lots of scraps, but the trick was in finding ones that went together decently.
Here's mine! Sorry, my attention span/free time for following things up is short and I only read a couple of the blog posts - but I saw she wrote about die-cutting scraps, and that's what I did for my ornaments - and bough. I took your scraps brief to the extreme, and the only un-upcycled things on this are the twine and the card base ;-).

Some of you may have noticed that Godlieve, StampingMathilda herself has commented on your cards...how lovely to have her check out the gallery. Thank you !

I haven't been able to log in on Splitcoaststampers for a while because I received a safety warning whenever I clicked on the link in the newsletter. Today I noticed lots of visitors coming from SCS in my statistics. So I logged in from there and it worked! Love seeing all the cards made with scraps!
So very much fun. I sneaked in a couple while DS did math and will hopefully be back for more after I drive him to practice. So much more material to work with!Patchwork Smile Scrapaholics Rejoice
Oh Polly, If you could see my craft table of half finished projects and/or rejects...I love this challenge and will be delighted to play along. Thank you for Mathilda's website, I'm already encouraged and brimming with ideas now!
Another two from my scraps, the first is made with squares, again but I've also added dots so I could put it in the Try a New Technique and also USEIT challenge.
And I'm later again ;-), with another card. I was SO tired and uninspired yesterday, the challenge really helped as a jumping off point even if DH isn't actually going to use this card.
I save it ALL, and it's justified. I rarely use a new sheet of paper for anything other than card bases.
Several years ago, I implemented an organization method that works for me.
I sorted every scrap I had into color stacks, and placed each in gallon baggies, then I "filed" them into a large drawer. I use this drawer so often it's rarely closed. LOL!
I made/finished several cards this week that fit this challenge. Christmas Poinsettia Just Roll With It Hydrangea Christmas in the City Haunted Christmas
already out from previous cards. Used most of it again to make a Hedgehog and Poinsettia
The scrap that became a Hedgehog home
smaller baggies hold "almost make the cut" items that might work on other projects.

WOW if you haven't checked out the MIX 197 gallery in the last day, take a look at Shannon's cards..she lives up to her SCS name..scrapaholic. Thanks for sharing your before pictures Shannon and showing us the power of the "scrap"
Polly, I'm finally getting around to this challenge. Here are two cards and I used lots of scraps! There are a couple of different kinds of ink, some glitter to boot!
Well Polly, I wanted to play along sooner, but have had some time restraints lately. This isn't even what I had in mind when I first read your challenge but I was able to finally use items sitting on my craft table.
