TLC593 ~ Everything Old is New Again - Reverse Masking
<style> </style> Happy Monday, everybody. It's July!! WOW. We are almost halfway through 2016. Didn't it just start?!?
And Happy Independence Day to our USA stamping friends!!
As I said when I announced our farewells and introductions a couple months back, Sabrina and I are alternating challenges for the first Monday of each month and revisiting older techniques. I know they won't be new to all of you - but they will be to some; and sometimes we get so busy with the latest and greatest that we forget about the tried and tested older techniques. The REVERSE MASKING gallery could do with a few new additions courtesy of some Tender Loving Care from the Technique Lovers Challenge, so today we are going to put it in reverse and do the REVERSE MASKING TECHNIQUE. It was originally TLC111 in 2007, and TLC333 in 2011.
HERE is a link to Beate's tutorial in the Resources section. I actually used Bridget's tutorial HERE, and cased her example very closely for my sample today.
Remember to upload your cards to the Masking - Reverse Cards and More SCS Technique Spotlight gallery.
Choose Technique Spotlight from the first drop-down option.
Choose Masking - Reverse from the second set of options
Remember it's always in your own gallery too, but it's great to add to those libraries of inspiration.
Here's a link to our TLC593 REVERSE MASKING GALLERY.
Here's my card: TLC593 Thoughts of You
Remember to use the keyword TLC593 when you are uploading. You can also add the other previous numbers above if you like. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .
~~~
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Remember you can play along with a challenge at any time!
Fun to revisit this technique today, Judy - I followed Bridgit's tutorial very closely, right down to the round masked area, the script and the flowers as focal point!
Reversed Masking First Timer
I actually did two cards. My white heart, no layers and my black heart that I ended up cutting out, because I made mistake and didn't like the outcome.
Here 'tis: TLC593 balance
Notice how the design isn't quite balanced. Well, neither am I... I'm still learning.
