I know it's that time of year that many of you are purging your crafting supplies that you no longer need or want. So, I am offering up a win-win suggestion. "The You Matter Project".
As some of you already know I am the founder of "The You Matter" card project here in upstate NY that makes cards for abused women and children. In May of this year we will be entering into our 8th year of the project. It's been a long hard journey for me, but I am so elated that something so horrific in my life has turned into something so enriching to so many people!
Up until 2014 - 2015, I had made most of the cards myself and personally supplied the few supplies we had. Then in July of 2015, "The You Matter Project" was honored to be the featured group for SplitCoast Stampers "Cards for a Cause". To our delight, we received a whopping 982 beautiful handmade cards from generous crafter's all over the world!!!
Because of this, the interest of those we help is ever increasing. All donations for the "You Matter Project" will be used for the storage of and/or making of cards by and for those who are helped by the project. I have a room specifically dedicated for items that people graciously donate for the "You Matter Project". Sometimes the items will be used in the form of group classes and sometimes they will simply be used by a single person or two who just needs a quite safe place to express their emotions through art.
Due to the limited financial situations of most of those that are helped by our project, and because of what we are trying to do with the project by empowering people, we do NOT charge anything to those who use the items. So, I am humbly asking all of you to PLEASE help us build our stash with your unwanted and extra items. I know that anything you could send to the project, no matter how small you think it is, would mean the world to those we serve.
Thank you for your consideration to Pay-It-Forward for a wonderful project!
For those of you wanting to send donations of cards, de-stash items, etc. to help "The you Matter Project", here is the address you can send them to:

Here is an example of a card that was made for "The You Matter Project" using some de-stashed items. The 3-D decoupage image was a pre-scored one that was a freebie in a UK magazine, the ribbon was a scrap donation, and I believe that the dsp was from Joan (SmileyJ).
Oh WOW, and double WOW!! Thank You ever so much for the amazing box of dsp and cardstock Deb Bee! (Beehappy) I also LOVE the card you made! It's so cute & colorful!
Many, many, many crafty blessings to you my friend. It's perfect for what the project needs.
Can I share your information on my blog? I have overheard a few of my customers talking about de-stashing so my first thought was to share with them. But why not share with everyone who follows my blog? (I'm not Mary Fish, but hey... a few hundred people is better than the 8 who immediately came to mind! haha)

Ohhhhhhh, I'm so glad! I have been pushing those things from corner to corner for too long. I hope you can use those templates!
I am happy I found this post. I have been purging my stamp room and looking for a good home it could go to. I will finish loading it up and send it your way.
Christi,
When I sent that envelope of paper, I didn't realize that you would like other stampy things donated. I'll put together another care package and send your way.
God's blessings to you!

It's been a week now - did my box of stuff ever get there? Please let me know - the postal service and I have had issues before, and I'm a little concerned...
Did you receive the heavy box of goodies I sent via USPS?
OH MY GOODNESS Peggy!!! Yes, we did receive your 27 lb. HUGE box packed full of wonderful things! The paper cutters are a godsend!! I have been sharing my personal cutter with the group. Now, I can keep mine at home because you donated 3 of them.... along with loads more goodies! God Bless your kind & generous heart!

Sue,
Was your box the 18 lb. HUGE long flat box packed full of goodies from Henderson, NV? If so, it arrived here on Saturday. WOW! What delightful treasures it contained! God Bless you my sweet friend!!!

Yes, that's the one - thanks for letting me know that it arrived safe and sound. I'm still missing four boxes of books from our move in October 2014, among other things, so my confidence in the postal system is sketchy at times...

Wow .... 2014!
Thankfully, I only had one similar postal issue. It was successfully resolved when I called the number to the actual location where it was mailed and politely asked them to search for it. It arrived within a few days. I was so happy as it contained photographs. Of course, not even a month had passed but maybe still worth a try.

Good luck!
I've gone around and around already - after several attempts and no resolution after initially starting the process a week or two after the move and going on for months, I just wrote them off as lost forever. Now I know better than to send anything Media Mail - there's no tracking, no insurance, and no accountability. Had I known better, I would have added those things (insurance and tracking) and packed differently (smaller boxes and more of them, instead of fewer and larger). There really should be some better information about this at the post office or on their website, but lesson learned and all of that...
