Challenge Title: Strength in Numbers
Hostess: Edna15 (Edna)
Keyword: HYCCT1527
Date: October 27th, 2015
By this stage of the month you are in one of two baskets, you have either been playing along each day, or you are scrambling for time to fit bursts of card making in between your crazy life... the latter is definitely me, but I will get through the challenges no doubt... keep the good work coming ladies, the cause is worthy, a collective creative gift is what you are part of!
My challenge today comes from a deep understanding that every cancer patient does not stand alone, there are teams of people that stand beside them, and every small success is an accolade for the "we" that make it happen. Help you sisters who are battle the BIG C by making a card for them that helps spread the message of "we're all here for you" "together we will beat this" by using a MASKING TECHNIQUE to bring a group of people (or animals) together as the MAIN feature of your card.
Remember that the most important part of this challenges is actually mailing your cards to MD Anderson (OR CHICKS IN PINK if you are in the Southern Hemisphere) - this challenge is such a blessing to the patients and their families, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity throughout the month.
I look forward to seeing how you interpret this challenge, a BIG THANKS to my lovely sample makers, see their work below!

Here you go Lynn. You can do this! Masking Basics. The key to ease of masking is to pick an image that isn't super detailed to make the fussy cutting easier. You want to use really thin paper for mask to avoid having a halo effect where your stamping can't get close enough to the edge of the mask if the paper raises the mask up too high over your masked image.
Edna, this is such a wonderful challenge. I love doing masking as once I have created a mask I keep it with the stamps for future use to make other fun cards. I really love this stamp set with these great ladies and thought they would work wonderfully together for this challenge. Thank you so much for hostessing this challenge!!! We sure appreciate you taking the time!
I hope I posted my Breasst Cancer card to the right place......but I am getting ready to mail it right now......
Kathy
I sent you a private message with some info about linking your card into the HYCCT gallery. So glad you made a card in your friend's honor. Thanks for sharing it here and with the card drive!
Did this group of owls, achieving the woodsy background by applying mossy green ink pad over and over to background, then distorting a bit with my aqua painter. Here's HYCCT1527 Owl Always Love You

Let me start by saying that I know this was supposed to be a card made by using masking. It is a cloudy, dismal day here, and while I was looking through my stamps for something that I could mask into a supportive group, I ran across my Penny Black farm animals. And I smiled. So, the masking went out the window and I used my supportive farm animals because people who are dealing with cancer could use a smile.
Then I couldn't decide which to use, so I used them both and made 2 cards. Thanks, Edna for brightening up my cloudy day. You Are Not Alone! by casep - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers We're Here for You! by casep - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I'm with Pollie, I hadn't masked in a while. That's what I love about these challenges...it get us using stuff and techniques we don't always use as often as we should.

It's been great to see everyone getting back to good old card making techniques, masking really stretches your stamps and you have all been doing a glorious job of demonstrating this... keep them coming ladies!
