My son is already starting to bug me about what I want for Christmas. He says he knows he wants to get me something crafts related but is at a loss of what to get. He wants a few choices so he can pick something from my list and surprise me.
So far, my list includes: Faber-Castel Gelatos (brights) Corner Chomper (blue)
or an oblique calligraphy pen
What crafty item will you ask Santa for this year?
I have already asked Santa for my goodies... Dies and stamps from Clearly Besotted They're hidden somewhere in the house so I have to wait for Christmas!
Why not add something outside your comfort zone. That way you can experiment without the guilt of spending money. Something like those powdered watercolors (Brusho) or some Dylusions or Heidi Schwapp sprays?
Just a suggestion to make sure you only include items that you are sure you won't want/need before Christmas. Also, limit the list to 6-8 items so that he doesn't get overwhelmed making a choice. My DH is wonderful but he's like a deer in headlights if I give too many choices.

I agree!
I've never used gelatos so that would be my want-to-try preference.
I've not had good luck with sprays or watercolor.
I believe Santa (me) will bring me a MISTI for Christmas :-) If Santa doesn't get stuck in an out of stock situation. It's the kind of tool that I really can't justify at any other time of the year, so it's perfect. And I may place an order at Simon Says Stamp or Ellen Hutson and not care about the total or the shipping and really live large

I thought about asking for a MISTI, but I don't want my Santa to feel he needs to spend that much. My plan is to make lots of cards so that I can justify buying one for myself sometime after the holidays. I read that there are supposed to be new ones coming soon on the MySweetPetunia website that will be laser etched but without the flame edges that caused the cracking. I want one!
Just took a look at the site ...
The laser etched MISTIs are available for preorder now but the cost has gone up to $60.
It will probably still be a better deal than Simon Says Stamps.
And I just recently bought that set of Gelatos - you'll love them - wonderful for our art journals!
I had my Christmas in July - I was able to spend 2 glorious weeks with my son and his family; and my son paid for my plane ticket - "Merry Christmas, Mom!"

At least with the laser-etched, you won't have to worry about the silkscreened grid wearing off. That's a big plus in my book!
You'll love it!

Santa (me) usually buys after the holidays, when the prices drop. Then I shop the sales.
My family and I quit the gift giving during the holidays. We do food gifts, like home made candy or jams. My stress levels have dropped to nothing since we did this. I really enjoy the holidays now.
This year I have to admit that I pretty much already bought everything I really needed and wanted. I have been blessed. Though the good Lord saw fit to drop 2 wild kittens into the mix:confused:, but I'm sure that was just to give me a reference point to reflect on how wonderful the rest of my blessings have been.
Hmm. My santa and I decided to stop giving each other presents and opt for putting $$ towards a vacation. But birthdays are still on!
Gift certificate to my LSS or Ellen Hutson seems to make us both happy!
Hey - that's what we do at our house, too! If we're just talking wish lists, mine is short - fill in the gaps in my markers, and new plates for my Big Shot...

I think I might toss this idea out to my family when we gather this year for the holidays. Many years ago we all agreed to by only for "the kids." But now all the kids are adults--most with significant others. I think everyone will be relieved if I suggest we skip the gift giving and just enjoy each other's company.
With my husband's two sisters and their spouses we decided to forego exchanging gifts also. Instead sometime after Christmas(usually March or so) we get all dressed up and go out to a really nice restaurant. Sometimes it's a new place we've been dying to try or it could be a more expensive place that we would normally not go to.
The only 2 things I would really like to have are a Misti and the largest collection of Prismacolor Premier color pencils
There are also a couple of high quality designer perfumes on my wishlist
Egad, I can't think of one thing I can put on my list as I buy what I want. I'm going to be asked to make my list and I won't be able to say zip, nada nothing.

Since all the kids are grown and gone we pretty much get everything we want all year long. We are putting aside money for our Alaska Cruise with friends in late summer (perhaps August 2016) We rarely exchange gifts any more because we both have everything we want...we enjoy going out for good meals as there are so many great restaurants here in Vegas.
I have started a list with a book Acrylic Painting for Encaustic Effects but I really would like a set of powdered watercolors so I need to add those (with a web link for my DH). I just bought myself the new misti (had a coupon). That was s sort of early gift I guess!
I'm rethinking my Santa request. I thought I wanted gelatos, but people say they are like watercolors. And I don't have a good track record with wet materials. I think the problem is paper but maybe it's just me. (If you've got suggestions, please post them in the mixed media forum.)
I'd love a MISTI, but want to keep items on my Santa's wish list at the $25 mark or below. I'm thinking Tim Holtz tissue paper, stencils, ink ... and I've already told my Santas that they MUST NEVER pay full price. They are allowed to only buy me stuff at JoAnns or Michael's with a 40% off coupon. Yes, I'm so cheap that I don't even let Santa pay full price. LOL

Amazingly I don't have any crafty things on my list! I really feel there's nothing I need. Of course there's always the few things I order from SU on my own every couple months! There are no pressing "gotta have" gift ideas for me right now!

I think it's wonderful that you've reached that point with your crafting.
You have enough and you know it. Many people reach the enough stage, but the knowing it stage is something most of us struggle with.
Santa's load got a little lighter - I broke down and got myself the new cutting plates for my Big Shot (the old ones were too far gone to even function), and a Versamarker. Now I just need a handful of alcohol markers, and I'm good!
What I can't buy for myself is paying down my PayPal. Boo-hoo. So I stop spending and pay my PayPal more. But if Santa is the jolly guy everyone makes him out to be, he'll help out. But I doubt it. I have a Thanksgiving birthday and asked for a set of towels. I've never in 55 years had nice towels.
Wow. I would dry myself with an old horse blanket and buy more supplies.

Just the thought of this makes me itch.
I might not exchange papercrafting supplies for towels, but I would trade them for a good set of bed sheets in a blink of an eye. When I was a kid, bed sheets were sooooo smoooooth.
Well on a super wish list I would say glow forge machine but that won't happen. So my realistic list would be intense pencils and faber castel pencils. And practical list would be new ikea Alex desk

How funny. There is a fantasy wish list, a realistic wish list, a probably gonna happen wish list, and I won the lottery wish list, and ...:p
I'd like those pencils myself. I've been reading up on them. You have good tastes in wish lists.
I've loved reading everyone's lists. Now I have to find out what a MISTI is!
My wish list is another ArtBin Cube, wireless connect for the Cricut Explore, Nestabilities, and Wild Orchid rubber stamps. I put everything on an Amazon wish list then email it to hubby!
Last Christmas, my mom (who hates online shopping) asked me to give her a list of things I wanted from our LSS. So we took a trip and I went around and showed her stuff I wanted. Well, she not only ended up getting that stuff, she threw in a bottle of Perfect Pearls Mist that I had not asked for, just to have a surprise. I was surprised--I already had that item in my stash! I did end up telling her about it, and suggested she not go "off script" anymore with something like that. The shop owner, when I told her the story, said I could have exchanged it for something else, but I said that was OK. At least it's a consumable item! LOL
