As we prepare to say farewell to beach-friendly sunny days, I just had to spend one more day at the beach! Don't get me wrong, I love ALL the seasons, and really look forward to fall & winter. However, this year I was especially attracted to the beaches of the Pacific Northwest, and I really took advantage! My favorites are Pebbles Beach in CA, Orcas Islands in Washington, and Cannon Beach in Oregon. (I'd love to hear about your favorite beaches too.) Every time I go, I try to bring home the wonderful variety of shells by the water (my plan is to one day use them in a card design - LOL). With those things in mind, I've chosen "shells" as our IC theme, and our inspiration site is the beautiful "Shell Board by Ayumi Matsuokas". Since I never really keep the promise to myself to 'use' the shells I collect in one of my card designs, perhaps (as a side-challenge) you could help me out by designing a card that uses a real shell as an accent. This might inspire me to use the hundreds of shells I have collected over the years! It's also possible that one of your sunny designs will light up my "Inspiration Genius Award Pinterest Board" too! Note: If you are not a Pinterest member, please note that I've collected 15 of my favorite shell photos from the board just to make it easy for you (see below this post).
Challenge Goals:
Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because an image on the board reminds you of it. Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow based on your impressions when you look through the images. Remember, it can just be the color palette or style that ignites your creativity. Whatever draws you to the designs, take the challenge of doing something uniquely inspired today.
Please remember that all inspiration links should be inspired by images from the "Shell Pinterest Board by Ayumi Matsuokas". You definitely don't have to keep the shell theme, you could simply be inspired by the colors and/or textures you see. If you are unfamiliar with how to grab the hyperlinks from a Pinterest Board, here is a helpful video:
Use the keyword: IC514 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words.
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many images to choose from, I've uploaded 15 of my favorites below. So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS. Don't forget to let us know which photo served as your inspiration piece please.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
So sorry that I was later than usual posting on Friday. Unfortunately, I couldn't get home to post on time. I hope you can still catch it in time to play along this week!
All I can say is, we must be twins separated at birth! I recently made a card for my son's birthday, but never uploaded it. It is a beach scene with real shells on it! I don't think I even got a pic of it. Anyway, we were lucky enough to go to Sanibel Island in Florida (he had a work convention in Orlando, and I went along as the nanny granny) last summer and it was so beautiful. I will try to come up with something, though it is a very busy weekend for me. I may not create until next week...but I am loving the shells theme and pinterest board.

I did a google search for your favorite beach, it looks like such a fun (and long) beach! They have a nice gallery of photos on the Mustang Island State Park site.
Thank you for sharing,
Audrie

p.s I grew up in a beach town in S.TX & my favorite beach there was Mustang Island. But my favorite beaches of all are Bellows & Hanauma Bay in HI.
Thanks for another awesome challenge, Audrie!! My favorite beach, hands down, is the North Shore on Oahu, Hawaii!! The sand is incredible...billions of grains of polished shell pieces!!! The current is very strong, however, so hang onto your suit! And sand gets in "everywhere"! lol!!!
Oh my! If I had ever been to a beach that had shells like these beauties, I would have been hooked. The FEW beaches I have been to, had NOTHING like these! Thanks you!!!
What a beautiful card! I also wanted to let you know that you taught me something today, I didn't know there was a problem with shells in customs! (I am usually driving to beaches).
I binged it and found this information in case anyone is interested. This way you'll have a better chance of knowing what you can take home in the future
My card uses 4 shades of coloured embossing powder on the Happy to try and get the look of the shells but sadly it looks one colour. I also used some white powders on the edge of the sand to get a foamy look. This card is for a young lad whose Birthday is later this month.
