Hostess: CaKath/ Kathy

Date: October 3rd, 2015
Welcome to Hope You Can Cling To! We are thrilled you are here with us, and we have some amazingly creative challenges for you this month - from some alumni of this challenge and some great new hosts as well. I hope you are inspired by the creativity and our purpose this month on Splitcoast to touch patients in a special way with some paper love.
Today's challenge is I Am a Warrior!
Whether you are the patient, caregiver or supporter of a patient, your warrior strength is called upon during this challenging journey. For this challenge, create something that shows strength or inspiration. You could use Native American inspiration, something camo to represent our military heroes, any symbols that invoke strength and fierceness.

Thank you, Kathy, for the fabulous challenge. I was stumped at first but then I remembered the fun camo technique I have seen in blogland and I gave it a try. Thanks for encouraging me to explore! I have a new favorite technique now! I used the word BELIEVE because I don't think a person can be a warrior without some belief!
You really "hit the nail on the head" with your challenge theme, Kathy! Fighting cancer IS a battle and like battles, some are won and some are lost. (I know first hand) I combined your challenge with today's IC since it was all about "heart". One with the cancer and those around them have to have strong hearts(courage) to fight. Thanks.
Good morning all! Wow we are off to a great start today. I'm happy to see that my theme is hitting home with many of you. I hope that cards from this challenge will be sent off to MD Anderson or someone else who needs it. Thanks for kicking off my challenge today.
I was able to make a quick card for today's warrior challenge. The lion is from a kid's stamping set. I didn't even realize that I had such a good image as some in that set aren't so nicely detailed. I hope this card will encourage someone to have the strength of the king of the jungle.
I am so impressed with the beautiful cards for this challenge, including the southwestern / American Indian themes with feathers, etc. You folks are just so amazing!
Kathy- great challenge! I went with a Bear, a symbol of strength and tenacity. Used a ripped cardboard piece for a frame. Image comes from SU's Wildlife Reserve. Dedicated to my dear SIL April who's fighting the fight! Here's Hear Me Roar

Hmm... I am not coming up with much from my stash for this one. Would a superhero work? Maybe I can pull off a camo background, but we'll see. I need a backup plan in case that doesn't work so well. lol

A super hero is a modern day warrior, so that would definitely work. I didn't want to stump anyone with this challenge but I had to do this for my friend. I'm seeing a variety of animals used for strength and I was also thinking about the beautiful oak tree in Lovely as a Tree to represent strength. Go with your gut. Thanks.
Well it's just after lunch here in CA. So far the cards have been awesome and I've seen so many creative ways to address the warrior challenge. Thanks to those who have been able to join us this morning. Keep em' coming.
This was fun. Charlene Merrick loved 'Edna' from Rubbernecker stamps so I decided to use her to remind us all that we women really are strong. Great challenge Kathy!
Wow, more great cards coming in this afternoon. I'm doing the happy dance. My goal is to have 100 cards for my challenge by the end of the month and we are almost half way there with much of today remaining. I am emailing all of my stampy friends to join the fun today.
Just checking into the thread today to say thanks to all who are stamping away and catching up. I welcome cards for this challenge all month. Heck, you could stamp one or two cards if you want. I appreciate anything you post. Happy Sunday!
