Default Brick embossing folder

Hi all,

I am lately quite enamored with the look of SU brick e.f. But have not bought it. Can anyone suggest another brand that they like of a brick wall?

Thanks
Shirl

Tim Holtz has one that looks kind of like a brick wall with a couple of cracks in it

Darice has one that's bricks only.

A little off topic, but I saw this video using the Su brick wall folder and love the technique:

https://youtu.be/QhdY3YJTwuk

P.S. There was no option for embed code - only for the url...I'll have to see if it's like that for other videos now.

Thanks for the link to the video and also Amber for letting me know they are out of stock. Doncha just hate when that happens? It sure seems like a good one, no wonder they are out of stock. Hope it is back soon.

Taylored Expressions has a nice one.

https://www.tayloredexpressions.com/...der-brick.html

Tim Holtz also has a nice one that has more of an old wall look

Hi Shirl,

the main difference between the SU and the other brick wall ef is the size of the bricks, which are much smaller on all the other brick ef mentionned.

Kind regards, Gaby

No worries, Shirl. It's not on the backorder list from yesterday. That means yours should be shipping/arriving soon, Amber.

I know that many use a Cuttlebug for embossing and die cutting. Note that this folder is 6" x 6", so just a bit too wide for that opening.

Paper Studio (the cheap one that you can get from Hobby Lobby) has a brick wall folder.

Thanks for the links to the different types of "brick" e.f. available. They are all so different and all are interesting looking.

Just wanted to let you know that I just received the fluttering embossing folder from the SU catalog (it is also 6" x 6") and it worked fine in my Cuttlebug. I have the green bug and love it!! My next order will include the brick wall embossing folder--I have seen so many cool cards made with this folder.

So glad to hear that report on the SU ef! I, too, have the green bug - all the other 6" EF's fit just fine, so it is good to know that SU square ef does, too.

I have every brick ef there is, and none are square, so I guess I "need" the SU one! Thanks for enabling....

I was really surprised to hear that the 6" folders fit through the Cuttlebug because they take up the entire platform of my Big Shot. I had a chance to try one on a CB yesterday and was happy to see that they do, indeed, fit -- but in just one direction.

My favorite is the Tim Holtz - it really looks good but I didn't care for the wood grain EF that came with it (wood grain is too large).

Amber, I know this is not on the current back order list and I think it's been off it for a while so you might want to have your demonstrator check its status for you.

Just a thought. Hope it comes soon because it's a great embossing folder.

I know you asked about an embossing folder, but...My Favorite Things has 2 sizes of brick stencils. I've just recently started using the supply of embossing paste and stencils that I've bought over the past year. A brick stencil used with paste would give amazing texture and a 3-D look. It would also be a bit more hassle than a folder.

I agree. I made a Christmas card three years ago with the Tim H brick embossing folder. I didn't care for the woodgrain EF that came with it. I have since gotten the SU woodgrain EF, and I never duplicate things!

I like the smaller bricks on the TH folder in comparison to the larger SU bricks. The link from amazon doesn't do it justice. That Taylored Ex. Folder was really cute.

Default Be Careful!

I have the SU brick folder. The other day when I was running it through my BS, it was ever so slightly crooked and it ended up getting stuck in the BS!! Oh, horror!! Could not move it. Able to shimmy out the cutting plates, but it was still stuck. Took some major yanking to finally get it unstuck. My advice, be very, very careful to be sure it's absolutely straight and run through BS slowly. The hinge side on one end of the folder is smushed, but it still works. Few panicky minutes! Afraid I would ruin my BS!

Thanks! I have a Cuttlebug. Someone said it will fit, but I'm sure it's even a trickier process. I will be careful. I don't want to ruin my bug! I didn't even remember I ordered SU's brick wall and I found an invoice about three weeks ago that had it on it. It said back ordered.

I got a shipping notice e-mail today that said my order shipped. If I hadn't looked at that invoice I would have thougH why in the world do I have a shipment coming!

I have the Tim Holtz brick but much prefer the Spellbinders M-Bossibilities Brick and wood grain folder. The scale is smaller than Tim's.

This folder must be very popular. It was out of stock, they got some in and then went on backorder again.

This was posted on a blog i saw today and they are expected to be back in stock today.

Here is a picture of the spellbinders folder. The M-Bossibilities folders are great. This one is 5 x 7. One side is brick, and then you flip it over for the bark design. I will try to give more pictures. The sandwich is different than regular embossing folders. Here is a link to Amazon.com. They have a great price. If you have Prime, then free ship or maybe you know someone who has prime who can have it shipped to you. Here is that link:
Amazon.com - Spellbinders EL-015 M-Bossabilities Bricks and Bark Die Templates - Scrapbooking Embossing Folders

Here is a photo of a card I made with the tree bark side. It is a bit over 5x7. The bark is 5 x 7.
