Default White Gel Pen Chatter

Hi All..Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have a S-Up White Uni-ball Signo gel pen and an Inkssentials White Opaque Pen and for the life of me..can't these buggers to write evenly or dark enough on cardstock?? I have barely used them only 2 or 3 times and when I try to make dashes, dots, squiggly lines, the ink just does not come out?

I SHAKE them (vigoursly) each time before using and store them in my drawer horizontal..I can see there is ink in them both...do they dry out after a time?? or does anyone have any other brand perhaps that works good for them. Sure would appreciate your input...maybe I'm just nutsy cuckoo?? but everytime I go to try and write with them...UGH...

Thanks all..have a good weekend!! Take care, Jo

I have had great luck with the SU! white Signo gel pens on dark CS. If your pen is <90 days old, contact your demo. She can arrange an exchange for you.

I am having the same problem with my Signo Pen. What if the pen is older than 90 days. Is the ink dried out? Is there a way to get this pen working again? Or do i have to buy a new one. Mine too has practically all the ink it came with still - it's hardly been used.

The first SU Signo gel pen I had didn't work after it hadn't been used for a long time so I had to get a new one. I have used the new one more often so it still works ok -not great. I notice that not putting much pressure on the tip seems to make the ink flow easier. But I almost always have to go back over my writing to get even lines. It is a pain, but I don't know what else to do.

With my signo pen, I need to move it slowly when I write to keep the ink flow even and thick enough.

I've heard you should store this pen vertically, point down. After my first one died (which I had stored horizontally), I read this advice and have kept the second one vertical and it's much better!!

THANKS ALL for your help/suggestions!!

Glad to see "I" wasn't the only one that had problems with this pen. It IS older than 90 days, so most likely I can't get a refund..but maybe will try storing it VERTICAL (vs.horizontal) IF I get a new one. Not sure if I want to purchase another one..maybe try a new brand??

Appreciate the help as always...you guys are the BESTEST!! Take care, Jo

Default White Gel Pens

I am sure there are many posts about which are the best white gel pens but unfortunately I keep getting an error when I try to search for them.

Can someone search for me and give me a few links to the threads? Or let me know what white gel pens you love. I have the SU one and it doesn't work. Has never worked. Not even a tiny bit of white will come out but it's been way too long since I ordered it to return it.

Thanks for all your help.

Char

Curious how you're storing it -- I was told that the gel pens had to be stored nib down, so that air bubbles didn't interfere with ink flow. Haven't had any trouble with any of the gel pens that SU! sells.

My favorite is the Signo white gel pen. I got mine here:

I swear by the Ranger white gel pen. I think that it is the most opaque and it works like a charm.

The one from SU is the Uni-Ball Signo I think. I have the SU one and it works great - as long as I use it! I had one that I didn't use for about 10 months - really terrible, I know! - and it seemed like it dried up. Not sure what happened to it, but I liked it well enough that I ordered another. I did read a thread where someone said they carry it in their purse now to keep it shaken up, but I don't remember what brand gel pen they were talking about.

I use the Sakura white gel pen and love it. You can see a card I made with it here: CC189 Color Challenge by smriti at Splitcoaststampers

I totally agree. The Inkssential Opaque White Pen is the best I've ever used, hands down. It stays bright white with no skipping even over the darkest colors and all coloring mediums.

I have tried many of the above including the Inkssentials, Signo and a Pentel white roller pen. The best by far and that I use a lot is the Sakura souffle pen. I used it a lot at Christmas for putting snow into trees.

I have tried the cheaper pens and got my money's worth... Now I have the Sakura Gelly rolls and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! I also love the metallic pen set. I do have the Souffle pen set and they are OK. Not the love story I have with Gellys, though...

WshUpnASta - gel pens come in every color of the rainbow (and then some) not to mention glitter. But finding gel pens that actually work - now that's the trick! Follow the advice you find here for help with that.

This is by far the best white gel pen I've ever used. The Ranger Inkssentials is good, but not as good as the Sakura. And the Signo is terrible.

I actually don't like my SU gel pens...they always seem dry. I love the ones I get at Scrappin' Great Deals. http://www.scrappingreatdeals.com/home.php

Sheila is great with her communication, their prices are good, and it is Canadian!

Signo White Gel Pen. I actually bought mine from SU since it seems like the Golden Unicorn in the pen world and that is the only place I could find it. That is the best white pen I have heard about so far. I collect pens, literally. Not trying to be cheeky. I am a writer and collecting writing utensils is one of my passions.

Default White gel pens

Kristina Werner does a great comparison of several gel pens on this video and you can make your own decision:

Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pens work the best for me. The Signo and Inssentials skip and dry up before they are even one-third empty. I know others have had different experiences.

I wish I could find one also. My signo has dried up and I've tried all the methods suggested to get it to work to no avail. I had heard the Inkssentials were great; now I hear they aren't??? Anyone else had experience with the Sakura? Where can you get it?

Wanda

PS I went on line and found one for $1.11 each but won't let me see S&H until I register and I really don't want to do that. Are these pens in J's, M's, HL, etc?

I used to use the Signo one but it got clumpy a lot and didn't run smoothly all the time. I LOVE the Inkssentials one here:

You can usually get them at Michael's where the other Gelly Roll pens are.

The Sakura is good, but not as fine as something like the Signo or Inkedsentials. Also be aware that it goes on clear and dries white, so it's harder to see what you're doing with it. The clear pen looks similar, but the cap on the white is more opaque, so you can't actually see the nib. I've certainly never had one dry - still using one two years later.

Mine doesn't go on clear. It goes on white. My Souffle white pen goes on clear and dries white. The tip on my white Sakura pen is the same kind of tip as the Signo and Inkssentials. I just used it today.

Sakura makes a white Gelly Roll pen, a white Souffle pen, and a white (clear) Glaze pen. I have them all and highly recommend them all.

I must have gotten a bad Sakura pen. It was too fine and skipped. I threw it away just a day or so ago.

I have the Sakura Glaze and Souffle and love both. They glide well where the others I can do without... including SU's.

I h ave both signo and sakura. I think the signo is a hit and miss. Sometimes it works other times not so much. I deff use the sakura when I need reliability. I am looking into getting the extra fine shaprie white poster paint pen suzanne Dean uses.

Skip the gel pens, I've tried them all and never liked any of them. I finally picked up a Sharpie poster pen, awesome! Very opaque white, fine line, and NO SKIPPING!

I like the Sharpie, but sometimes it drips. Also, the one I have has a thicker tip than the gel pen.

Default Elzybell Art Stamps have a white pen

Elzybells Art Stamps (UK) have an awesome white pen that is opaque: see this link.

I have tried lots of different brands of white pens - and been disappointed time and time again because they weren't opaque enough and all but disappeared on coloured cs, or the ink didn't flow smoothly and it 'skipped'. The Elzybells ones rocks for me!!

That looks like the Inssentials pen.

I use the Signo pen. You can find them online quite a bit cheaper than what SU sells them for. In a pinch, I have used a white out pen.
