Have you ever written down instructions for a special fold or some creation you wanted to make, but forgot to write down what it was? LOL I do this all the time. I will see sizes and directions on a piece of paper my desk and then say "what was it that those directions make?" Then what? I sometimes will follow the directions to see if I can figure out what it was, but sometimes I just toss the paper and say "tough luck Kathy. Next time you'll learn to write a title for those instructions!"
Hey!..have you been peeking at my crafting desk? Ha ha...way too funny! Man..I do this all the time. I try to at least write 'SCS and the date' or the name of the lady's blog but most of the time it's a diagram or just some scribbles and numbers. I am thankful that I am not alone in this. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I'm so glad I have a sister! LOL Just last week I tossed three things because they weren't complete instructions and didnt' give any information on a name or anything! I must say I am getting better. Right now on the desk I see some sizes but I also see "Rule of Thirds template" so I know what that was!
It's not a "them." It's one project -- just lots of measurements!
Four pages of notes on one project? That must be one terrific project! Do you also draw pictures to help remember? I doodle quick pictures to add to my notes, but if I don't know what it is, the pictures don't always help! LOL
I do this with all kinds of notes and have my whole life.
I am getting better about it with more info but I just found a phone number I have no idea who it's for. Trash. They will find me if it is important.
It is worse now with the computer. I have a pad next to it and scribble stuff down-I cant even read my own writing some days! ugh!
That why I love the favs here. They remind me of either stuff I want to buy or an idea I want to try though I generally wont do it if it is blog driving. I cant spend time clicking through a million things b/c by the time you get back to it, that blogger is months down the road.
I am careful to transcribe directions immediately while I still understand what I want to know. And yes with drawings b/c I am visual.
The problem is-do I go back to the file and read it?

This post made me chuckle. I'm in the process of cleaning, sorting and reorganizing my craft area into a space that I can actually use. I would guess I have tossed at least a dozen scrap pieces of paper that had measurements written on them but no indication of what the measurements would make. I am being ruthless in tossing, recycling and donating things I haven't used in a while but I am keeping a spiral notebook that I am planning to use for project notes going forward so they WILL be titled and all in one place. We'll see. . . . .

How do you delete? I was editing and it doubled down on the same message and I couldnt delete one. So I just deleted the whole thing but you have write something or it wont let you do it.
Don't feel bad! I have a terrible memory, and I forget where I've written things that I wanted to save, and where I put things ALL the time! You're in good company!
Oh Yeah, I have done that and still do sometimes. IN fact I just found a piece of paper in the book I keep of passwords for different sites. It says HALAH by Mazzy Star. Really? I have no idea what that is or even that I remembering writing that. I am getting better though and keep a paper at the computer and write down the date (very important) of some posting on someone's blog though about certain cards.

Go to YouTube and type that in. I found a video but it won't let me view it on a mobile device.
I learned quite a while ago to stop keeping bits and scraps of paper with "notes" written on them. I got a diary type notebooks from Michaels and keep one at my crafting area and another at my computer desk and now keep my notes in these. I title the page and try to keep things organized. Helps with ideas and items I want to purchase too.

I often find bits of paper with instructions/diagrams for projects I wanted to try. I've learned that I must write the blog reference (or whatever) because I will never visualize the item just from my notes. It's nice to know I'm not alone!
I'll be talking to someone and planning to have lunch some weeks out. I get to the day of the event and find a calendar entry that says, yep, lunch. No deets, just lunch with a noon start time.
I just threw away a scrap of paper yesterday that had a sketch and some scribbled dimensions. It looked like it would make some sort of box bottom but I couldn't be bothered to figure it out further so to the recycling bin it went.
I do better when I write a word or a few words, which I can then at least use to look up the technique. Like "bokeh" or "washi tape twist 'ems", both of which are on the latest scrap I found.
