Default Is anyone willing to mail me a few sheets of deli paper?

Hi. I'm really keen on obtaining 30 or 40 sheets of genuine American polyethylene deli paper. The local stuff I bought here is very porous, wrinkles, and leaks paint. I can only find entire boxes of US deli paper online but paying $50 to ship a $4 box seems wrong somehow!! Would someone be willing to stick these sheets in an envelope and post them to me in New Zealand? My SIL in the States could send a cheque to cover postage. Many thanks, and kind regards.

I'm thinking it's the translucent paper that comes in a pop-up box like kleenex and is used in the deli when they cut and weigh your meat and cheese.

But I know there's often a difference in names from here to England or Australia/NZ.

Julie Balzer has techniques on her site:
Balzer Designs: New Online Class: Getting Started with Deli Paper

A YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AyLtBJiU1c

Huge box available from Amazon:
Amazon.com: Dixie Kabnet Dry Wax Paper, 12 Inch x 10 3/4 Inch, 1000 Count: Health & Personal Care
From a restaurant supply:
Box of 500 Durable Packaging 8" x 10 3/4" Interfolded Deli Wrap Wax Paper

The deli paper is cheap from a restaurant store, but shipping is exorbitant. I'm sure it's available in Sam's stores here, but I don't have a Sam's card any more. I'd be glad to check to see if I can get some in Costco.

All this assumes that I have the right product that you're looking for, and I may not, if you are looking for something that is plastic instead of dry-waxed paper.

Here's the polyethylene one from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Satin-Pac-Dens.../dp/B00CHUHNZG

I can still check my Costco to see if it's available at a reasonable price. Surely mailing 40 sheets would be a negligible postage!

Diane if you can't find it I will ask at the Speedway gas station & Food Mart if they will sell me 40 sheets of deli paper. They sell bakery and I think it is Deli paper people use to pick up their bakery from the tray and put in a bag .
The box of paper is visible on the counter so I will check the name next time I am in there to be sure it says Deli paper.

Some how we will get this woman some deli paper

I was just thinking maybe your SIL could just send you some rather than send postage money to someone else? It seems that would be the easier way to do it. The ladies here are awesome aren't they?

I've heard of deli paper but always wondered what exactly it was. I'm interested....what are you creating?

No, it is not the same as freezer paper. It is thinner. And less of a waxy feel.

I don't know what the OP wants it for, but I use the deli paper to pull prints from my gelli plate. Since you (or me!) get a lot of waste attempts that turn out not-so-good from the gelli plate, then you aren't wasting money on good card stock or heavy papers to pull the prints. Then, for the few that I like, I mod-podge the deli paper to a heavier base. Like this:
Dragonfly Art by Illinois Marge - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

But is 40 sheets is enough? I easily use that in one marathon sitting with my gelli plate.

That's cool. Is deli paper thinner than wax paper?

Morning, ladies :-) Thanks for all your efforts on my behalf! Much appreciated! As I said in the OP, it's the polyethylene deli paper I'm after. I'm hoping to use it for gelli plate printing. The local wax-type paper here isn't very good for that. My SIL works second shift, sometimes third, and it's hard for her to get out to do shopping for me, hence my request. Postage for an envelope of deli paper shouldn't be more than USD$10! Hope that covers all the questions! Thanks again!

So you are interested in this clear plastic version of the paper? Or the dry wax frosted white version? I have a box of that deli paper that I got on Amazon. It's not porous and thin like tissue paper...

I have no idea. Dry frosted, I guess. As long as it's polyethylene and not wax paper, I'm thinking I'll be ahead of the game I'm currently in! I'd like what Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and other crafters use. I'm pretty sure it doesn't look clear in the videos. Thanks again for your responses, everyone!

The deli paper that Julie uses is in her Getting Started with Deli Paper class is the Dixie Kabnet dry wax paper I linked above. Here's the link again.
Amazon.com: Dixie Kabnet Dry Wax Paper, 12 Inch x 10 3/4 Inch, 1000 Count: Health & Personal Care

In one of her projects it looks like glassine paper to me.

Maybe wax paper I buy in a roll and DRY wax paper are two different things.

And the link that poppydarling references...for the Logan brand...the comments indicate that people are using it for gelli plate printing.

I found this to describe the difference between regular wax paper and dry wax paper:
Regular wax paper has a paraffin coating on the outside, and dry wax paper goes through a heating, cooling, and pressure treatment so that the wax actually permeates to the inside of the paper. Think deli paper.

[QUOTE=Renata Joyner;20981085 I'd like what Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and other crafters use. I'm pretty sure it doesn't look clear in the videos. [/QUOTE]

The dry wax paper looks to be what you are looking for, Renata. That's what is being used in the projects you reference. Several people mention that they have some...and I found that it's available at Costco.

12" X 10 3/4" Plastic Deli Wrap and Bakery Wrap

This is Webstaruant - a restaurant supply house -- the shipping is still a little high but a far cry from $50.00 -- they have multiple sizes and it is the polyethylene deli paper. They offer ways to reduce the shipping but I'm not sure any would work for you.

Hope this helps!

BTW - I have ordered from them for other supplies and they are quick and good quality

I don't use the polyethylene when I pull my gelli prints. I just use the regular deli wrap. Are you *sure* that's what you want????

Renata, instead of 30-40 sheets, how about I send you maybe 10 sheets to make sure this is what you want? I use it to make prints on the Gelli plate and it's fantastic. I can't imagine the postage would be crazy because the sheets are so light, but why don't you PM me and we can talk about it.

Ok, so now I'm totally mixed up. I thought I wanted polyethylene, but maybe not!! The deli paper used here in NZ for cakes and meats and sandwiches is porous and only has some wax on one side. It's hopeless for gelli plate print. If Julie FFB uses dry wax infused paper, then maybe I should try that?? WebRestaurant was the one with the $50 fixed-fee for international postage, and I don't need 1000 sheets, or even 500 really. Poppydarling, I don't know how to PM. My email address is [email protected], so if you'd like to write to me there, we can take the conversation offline if that's ok. Email is easier on my phone anyway :-) Thanks again, ladies. I appreciate your attempts to educate me about deli paper!!! Sorry I'm a slow study. Lol.

PS. The Amazon product linked to below doesn't ship internationally. :-(

Renata (my bosses name also) hello I can get you some paper that is used for picking up donuts at the grocery. We go every Sunday and get donuts (YA!! treat). I will try to get 50 sheets but not sure about that many at a time. If you would like me to send these to you for you to try email me at [email protected] with your address and I will get them in the mail that Monday. Thanks Pat

I was on a quest for deli paper recently - thought I should go to Gordon Food Service because it isn't sold in the supermarket.

So I went to Amazon and was a little confused - it was described as waxed, but the deli paper that I'm familiar with does not feel waxy.... as Diane said, it's done differently. I saw a pack of larger sheets that is described specifically as used for Gelli Plate printing but I thought it was a bit pricey. I think the advantage is that it is not folded.

I want to use it for polymer clay and also for mixed media. I ended up getting this:

Amazon.com: 10" Length X 8" Width, LOGAN Wrap NORPAK Interfolded Wax Paper 500 Sheets: Industrial & Scientific

It is exactly what I thought it should be - does not have the waxy feel of waxed paper. You can also find something called "patty paper." I'm pretty sure it is the same thing. In some videos from the UK, the people referred to patty paper for the same uses as deli paper.

I can appreciate the difficulty you've had figuring out exactly what you want. This is the paper described specifically for the Gelli Plate in case this description clarifies things for you:

Amazon.com: 50 Sheets, 12x12 Inch Deli Paper, for Art Journal, Gelli Plate, Mixed Media, Scrapbooking

We're obviously Amazonically-challenged at the ends of the earth here!! None of the products ship to Enzed. Sigh. Two or three lovely ladies have contacted me offlist with a couple of product suggestions, so I will follow up with them and "itsme". Once I can establish what it is I actually want, I can arrange something with my relatives! Honestly, I really appreciate you all taking this onboard so seriously!! Great community. I've been on some boards where you'd think a pack of piranhas had been let loose!! This place is a nice change. Thank you, everyone!!

The brand in Julie balzer's video is Kabnet Wax. This is from restaurant supply stores and maybe Sams & Amazon. I would go to a local deli and ask them to sell some to me instead of ordering 1000 sheets. People are often generous will small things like this.

Twenty thousand kilometers is a little far for me to travel to get a few sheets of deli paper! Lol. No Sam's, no Amazon, no Kabnet Wax here (hence my original request). Some ladies are helping me with this, so I think it's safe to close this thread now! Thanks again, everyone.
