I have been away from stamping for a couple years. we had a family tragedy that took all my time. I want to start again and I would like a couple new stamp sets.
What are the Popular (favorite) stamp companies at the moment.
Yes! Welcome back as well! Without knowing the style of stamping you like to do it's hard to give a useful endorsement. I particularly like Penny Black. They have a very large range of styles of images as well as types of stamps. (i.e. wood mount, cling mount and clear) If you have been away from stamping for a while one major trend many companies are following is to provide matching dies for their stamps. Take a look at the galleries to help you decide what you like. :-)
Hope everything is better now. Welcome back to this wonderful (and addicting) hobby!!
Here are some of my favorite companies (yes, it's a LONG list!!!...hence the addiction. LOL!!!)
My Favorite Things
A Muse Studio (of course)
Clearly Besotted
Simon Says Stamp
Avery Elle
Mama Elephant
Crafter's Companion
Penny Black
Whimsy
Wild Rose
GinaK
Lili of the Valley
CC Designs
Whipper Snapper
My Creative Time
Stamp of Life
Hero Arts
Lawn Fawn
So happy to seeyou here again! Its so amazing to see how many new stamp and die companies there are now. You are gioing to LOVE shopping. It seems like the hottest new tool is the MISTI. They are a new member company here too. Lots of info on their member boards.
Hope getting back in to stamping helps as you continue moving forward, welcome back!
As others have said, what appeals to you is going to depend a lot on your style. I'd add Waltzingmouse Stamps to some of those already mentioned.
Nobody's nominated a favourite set though so I'll wade in with one I always say is a good candidate for the one that would stay in my craft room if I was held at gun point and forced to choose just one set: Hero Arts Antique Engravings
It's not a new set by any means but Hero Arts continue to be popular and that particular set is useful for both masculine and feminine cards and just about any occasion (birthday, anniversary, sympathy, hello, thinking of you etc, etc). If you like to look at things for inspiration, the fact it's been around for a while means that there are loads of examples online (just use google images on the name of the set).
Have fun picking out some new stamps and getting back in to the hobby!
You can order that stamp set from 123Stitch.com. It happens to be on sale today also. I've ordered from them several times in the past and have had no problems with service or shipping. Hope that helps.
Joanne, I love that set but can't find it anywhere. Like your favorite lipstick and bra, manufacturers will always discontinue the best stuff!!
The link right under the picture will take you to the HA web site where it's showing as "available" so even if you can't find it elsewhere you should be able to get it direct from HA. I've got way more than $16 use out of mine (the price showing on the HA website at the moment)!

Here you go if you want a direct link to the set at 123stich: Antique Engravings (showing as $12.79 today). No idea what their shipping costs are like but worth a look at that price, I'd say!

I love 123Stitch! They have a huge variety of all brands of stamp sets, with good prices and very reasonable shipping. I've always gotten my orders quickly, too.
