Default We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board question

I made graduation announcements for a friend, who wants to put a rather large picture inside of the card. So I had to make the actual card (folded) 5.5 x 8.5, so the punch board says I need 11x11 peice of cardstock to make the envelope, leaving 1/8 space. I made all 10 of my envelopes, and only 2 of them fit. All the other envelopes are too tight for the card! I don't know what I have done wrong! Help!!!!

I once made several envelopes only to find they didn't fit too! I now do one at a time. Is your card thicker than normal? If so, I'd suggest moving to the next size up because thickness can take away precious space. Good luck!

Just the finest mistake can make a great difference. When I fold along the score line I always make sure to fold just a hair larger than the score. There is always lots of room to glue together and just a 1/16th of an inch can make a big difference. Depending how you sealed your envelopes already made perhaps you can open them up again and re-glue a little bit bigger. I also make a cardboard piece the size of the actual card and fold the envelope around it. Hope this helps.

If 2 of them fit, then I think you might have made some sort of mistake when cutting the cardstock for your cards (in which case some of your cards are slightly larger than the others), or you might have cut your envelope paper just a tiny bit short. As Sue said, the smallest mistake can throw everything off.

I don't use cardstock for my envelopes. I use scrapbook paper that I buy when it's on sale, and I also use scrapbook paper that I know I won't use in my scrapbooks. The lighter papers fold better and stay more true to the measurements.
