WT55 - Mad for Plaid
This week the WT challenge is to find ways to use your PLAIDMAKER or other plastic templates. This means if you don't have the plaidmaker, you can use the cloud template or any other plastic template you might have. If you don't have anything at all...just go faux and design one. I made my own cloud template last week and it worked great.
Please remember to put WT55 in your keywords section and post a link back here so that we can all see your work.
Happy stamping,

I have clouds on my challenge cards from last week's stuck on you...okay I'm done! I'll be back to do more, maybe use my mountain template this time. DH wants to drive an hour away for bird food and wants me to ride along but next to that store is my favorite stamp store if they haven't moved yet. What can I get you ladies if their still clearance sales going on?

Good morning, Julia (& everyone). I couldn't even get on the site earlier, so I went & finalized an order on SU. It was one of those nitemare orders that nothing seemed to be working right. KWIM? It was a single order over $500 & she ordered 4 backgrounds. When you punch in a background code, this little box pops up about the special -- well dummy me didn't read the whole thing, so I checked yes for 3 of the backgrounds... but when they are listed on the order, it doesn't specify which ones you ordered. I also didn't check closely & the price on each is $42.38 (US). So I couldn't figure out why her order was for over $600. Finally went back & checked edit on the bg promo & each one listed 3 default bg's (not the ones I ordered). She would have been getting 3 duplicate sets of bg's. --- The fine print in the pop-up box tells you that you have to edit these to put in the ones you want --- Just thought you gals might need a heads up on this. Save a few headaches.
Great challenge, Julia. I have a bunch of the old plastic templates -- oh, yeah, I have that new funky one from the spring mini. I should figure out what to do with it! Thanks for the push.

Great challenge for me. I've had the plaid maker for several months now and haven't used it yet...this is challenge me to do so! Thanks, Julia.

I used my plaid maker using barely banana, rose red, and certainly celery. Following the color coach my last color was coral cameo but half way through I decided I wanted some options so finished it in garden green. Amazing how one color changes the entire look. After going through the trouble to do a 12x12 piece of cardstock I went ahead and made 4 cards, all very different.

OK. So how do you use your plaid maker? Do you use a sponge or brayer? Just curious. I definitely get different effects with each.

I have only used the sponge. I have a foam brayer I bought last (June!!! ) for this purpose and have never tried it out! There is a reason I post this challenge I am the queen of buying-it-but-not-using-it!

I have the sponge attachment for the brayer and don't actually like it, it seems to soak up a lot of ink and takes forever to get complete coverage and makes a huge mess. I now use a sponge dauber and it seems to work much better for me. My only issue is it wears out my hand and arm in the repetitive process.

I've thought about buying the sponge, but thought it would be a big chore cleaning it after every use. Is it?

I don't have a plaid maker, or a cloud template. I know there is some way to do the plaid thing just using your brayer....may have to figure it out! Tracy~ what great cards! And how smart are you to make a 12 x 12 to do more than one??!! Can't wait to see what you all do...

I bought the plaid maker and the brayer, and have used it exactly once in 10 months! It is such a mess and yes, the foam brayer attachment is a pain to clean, especially with a dark color. Maybe I will have to try it again with the sponges, probably much less mess.

Julia, You are the perfect person for this weekly challenge as you push us all where you know you need to be pushed. We are all sitting right there in your same spot with you. By the way....I loved your example card. I would have never thought to use a little small square of plaid like you did. I don't use my plaidmaker much but when I do I always cover the whole page. Thanks for that great idea.

You could mask with post-it notes to make a small plaid. It wouldn't be that hard.

Great Challenge! Water, sky, and mountains are all plastic templates. The trees are done with a metal template. Another Guy card. This time of year I need a lot of masculine cards, can you tell. Here is my card: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
