Hi everyone. I'm starting some chicken soup as the humid 90 degree weather has returned to the depths of Hades where it belongs. Then I'm going to get inky!

LOL - If I wait for the heat to go away I'll never get soup!
I'm going to fiddle with this week's Mix-Ability challenge later if I can get the animals off my desk!
My daughter requested chicken soup today so that's what I'm making too..it only 49 degree's here tho!

Tomatoes all were picked tonight, even the green ones due to possibility of a freeze coming...green beans & sweet potatoes will be picked tomorrow afternoon...raspberries will be covered with sheets for protection for a few nights!
bummer for the orchards that have barely started their apple selling season...

Anyone want to come help me with my apple harvest? I'm getting mighty sick of apples! I've done gazillions of jars of applesauce, apple butter, apple cider...oooh, time to hit the cider. There's NOTHING like fresh cider!!!
Plus...I could use a couple of great recipes for gluten-free apple crisp!!

Yes, please! YUM.... you are making me drool.
Some varieties are more susceptible to doing that. Our three Macintosh trees ALWAYS drop early. But they're fine for sauce! And if the sauce isn't that flavorful (as in REALLY early apples) that's when I turn it into apple butter.
But my Jonathan's are hanging on. As are the Honeycrisp and Cortlands. The Goodlands we picked a long time ago. They're short season apples.
So, pick up the windfalls! You can still use them!
The windfalls and many on the tree for that matter have so many bird holes. For some reason at my SIL's house the apples don't get as damaged. So we'll have to check on hers...although last year there just weren't many apples at all. And at least the bears don't usually climb...they just eat the ones that fall. Of course so do the deer! But as to what types of apples they are.....I have ZERO idea how to tell! LOL

I'll trade you some of my tomatoes for your apples one more day of tomatoes and I'm DONE!

has everyone get the craft room ready? Not me but I know most of the pink things. I have for the challenges LOL
My craft room is as messy as it always is but I am stocked up on adhesive, envelopes and pink cardstock - I've even colored a bunch of generic images. Bring it on!
