September already! I love all the songs with autumn leaves - "Autumn Leaves" itself, Dan Fogelberg's "The Reach" ~ It's Maine, and it's autumn, the birches have just begun turning... "California Dreaming" ~ All the leaves are brown... It may be a little bit early for the leaves in nature to have started turning colour - here we've had some very windy days and the leaves are being blown down while they're still green. But today's challenge is to fill the gallery with Autumn Leaves - stamps, dies, patterned papers, whatever you've got.
A couple of suggestions for something a bit different if you want to stretch yourself!
* Check out Judy's TLC from last September when she had usLeaf Stamping ~ using real leaves to stamp with. Last year I didn't risk trying distress inks but stuck with pigment as Judy suggested. This year I decided to try distress inks, and they worked perfectly.
As a bonus - I laid the leaves on a non-stick mat to ink them, and I was then able to spritz the mat with water and get a couple of good wrinkle-free distress panels to save for another day.
* Or you could try using a leaf as a mask and spritzing over it - I got good results with that too.

Here's my sample: WT495 What a Hoot. Since I'd used the embossed enamel leaf tutorial linked above for my IC card on Saturday, I went with the leaf stamping for this .
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
I know that for those of our members who live in the Southern hemisphere it's Spring - but I hope you'll still enjoy playing with some autumn leaves today ;-).
Our leaves aren't changing yet either, Sabrina, but the young squirrels are nipping and dropping leaf clusters off the pin oak trees in copious amounts(the yard is a mess). I probably should have used some of these fallen leaves to create a more elaborate card, but I have a busy day and just wanted to get a card done easily and quickly.....another for the Thanksgiving stash. Thanks.
Good morning Sabrina. I love making colorful leaves and really hope I get home from work early enough this evening to play in the challenge. I want to share a couple leaf coloring tutorials that I did last year using alcohol inks and PanPastel. Both create amazing colors on die cut leaves.
Thanks, Kittie! I'd forgotten about alcohol ink - and I should have remembered since I used that to make diecut leaves for one of my DTGD cards . You're right - the gloss and mixed colour effect they give is so perfect for autumn leaves. I must have a go with my chalks, too.
Though the trees aren't really looking too colorful yet, I have picked up my first fallen leaf already. Fall is my favorite season....cooler weather, jeans and sweaters, and of course SOUPS and Pumpkin everything! You've made my morning Sabrina and I haven't even hit the stamping room yet! PS-think I'll go plunk out "Leaves that Are Green" by Paul Simon first....haven't had a good piano session in a long, long time!
I die cut the tree in white card stock and then colored it with color markers. I thought the verses went two ways with this card, as prayer changes things and leaves changes colors ...

Sabrina- love the coming of fall and the leaves changing! I used an oldie but goody set from SU- along with some dc leaves, using corrugated cardboard and brick red fabric- as I wasn't ready to go outside Here's thankful thoughts

Great challenge, Sabrina. I'm ready to do some fall cards, and as I said, I'm torn between whether I like images of flowers or leaves more (although, funnily enough, I did not stamp any leaves on this card).
